Hidden Gems: Meet Jessica Tranchina of Generator Athlete Lab

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Tranchina.

Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a passion for helping people. I knew I wanted to be a Physical Therapist from the age of 12. Years of research, following the best mentors all over the country, and studying the best methods to improve performance both mentally and physically, have led me to develop The Generator Method, a method we follow at Generator Athlete Lab.

I opened my first Physical Therapy practice while living in Hawaii in 2008. I quickly discovered that I had a gift for helping others with a combination of a manual technique I use, specific exercises, and a specified recovery routine.

Upon moving to Austin in 2010, I decided to open my practice here while pregnant with my first child. I was so nervous! I didn’t know anyone, but I quickly built a word of mouth business and knew I was onto something. I continued practicing in my business PRIMO Performance and Rehabilitation, Inc. throughout all three of my pregnancies and births, all the while knowing I needed to figure out a way to scale my techniques, protocols and methods to help the masses.

Enter 2016 when the idea hit me to open Generator Athlete Lab whereby we have a specified recovery protocol, semi-private personal training and highly skilled therapeutic practitioners. My dream came to fruition that I would be able to help the masses! We have all science back protocols, methods and training to help our clients improve mobility, decrease pain, improve mental and physical performance, and overall improve quality of life.

Our recovery protocol includes a session in our infrared sauna, followed by contrasting between hot and cold plunge pools and finishing in our compression lounge.

Our personal trainers and massage therapists ensure your body is injury-free and well-balanced so you can be both strong and pliable.

It truly has been a dream come true for me to see how many people we have been so fortunate to help!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh gosh, noooooo! I truly believe the most rewarding achievements in life come with the most challenges and, honestly, I don’t think I would have had it any other way! I learned so much along this journey that has made me more resilient in life overall. I feel able to tackle many other challenges I may not have been able to tackle after having been through what I’ve been through to open Generator Athlete Lab!

There were many, many ‘no’s’ along the way, many ‘you can’t do this’, or ‘you shouldn’t do this’ and that never stopped me!

My biggest challenge was with the COA ED Dept. Generator Athlete Lab is located inside the Old Power Plant at Seaholm. The ED team wanted to ensure whatever business occupied the power plant that the main space would allow public viewing into the old Turbine Hall and they weren’t convinced we would be a good fit.

Therefore, after receiving many ‘no’s’, I finally convinced them for me to go to City Hall to present our concept to the City Manager! I was the most nervous I have ever been. I can’t believe I convinced them because I was so nervous, but thankfully I did and, with a few other negotiations, we were able to lease the space!

Moral of the story: If you truly believe in what you want to achieve, then don’t let anyone or anything stop you!
