Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaki John.
Hi Kaki, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I received my Decorator’s certification about 16 years ago and mainly worked for friends and family while raising my two daughters. Once they went off to college, I went back to school and received my Interior Design Degree. I then took a leap of faith about a year and half ago, and opened my own design firm, Kaki John Interiors!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The design part of my business has been a true blessing! My obstacles were learning how to operate a business. Taxes, bookkeeping, contracts, etc… each day I learn something new about being an entrepreneur! I’m a creative person not so much a tax gal so that’s been my biggest challenge, but worth it!

Kaki John Interiors is a full service design firm. We specialize in new builds, remodels, and everything in between. No project left behind! I feel my speciality includes lighting, fabrics, furniture placement, wall coverings, art, accessories. I think what sets us apart is our transparency and being completely honest with our clients. Communication is key. There can be bumps in the road with a project and we feel being open and honest is best! Building trust and friendships with our clients is most important! At KJI we want to create a space for our clients that reflect their personality! At KJI, we use a seven step process that keeps everything organized and our clients know exactly where we are will working on their project! It’s key to our success!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
This is always an interesting question to me…. On a personal side, I’ve snow skied three different continents and I love motorcycles! On a business side, my dream project is to be the lead designer of a luxury hotel!
