Today we’d like to introduce you to Roslyn Jones Lopez.
Hi Roslyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Everyone comes into real estate from a different path. Before becoming a REALTOR®, I spent 12 years in the corporate world working in IT consulting and project management. My career took me throughout the U.S. and Canada, where I developed skills in communication, organization, negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship building that I still rely on every day.
Interestingly, my original plan wasn’t to leave corporate America. I intended to earn my real estate license and practice real estate while keeping my full-time job. But somewhere around my fourth licensing course, I realized this wasn’t just going to be a side business—it was the career I was meant to pursue. At the same time, company-wide layoffs had become a constant reality, and I knew it was time to take the biggest leap of faith of my life.
Walking away from a steady paycheck and excellent benefits to build a 100% commission-based business was intimidating, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I wanted to build a business of my own—one that would allow me to be present for the moments that matter most, and make a meaningful impact in other people’s lives.
Austin has always been home to me. I graduated from both high school and college here, and after living elsewhere for a period of time, returning truly felt like coming home. Watching this city grow over the years has given me a deep appreciation for its natural beauty, diverse communities, generous opportunities, and the people who make it such a special place to live.
Today, I have the privilege of helping first-time and experienced home buyers, sellers – as well as clients relocating to or from Central Texas – navigate one of the biggest financial and emotional decisions they’ll ever make. My corporate background taught me how to stay calm under pressure, solve problems creatively, communicate clearly, and keep transactions moving forward—skills that have proven invaluable in real estate, where no two transactions are ever the same.
I’m especially passionate about educating buyers on new home construction opportunities because there are so many advantages that many people don’t realize exist. I recommend that buyers always work with a REALTOR® when buying new build homes.
I also enjoy helping sellers maximize their home’s value before it hits the market. Along the way, I’ve built a trusted network of lenders, title professionals, inspectors, and contractors who help me provide a seamless experience before, during, and long after closing.
Looking back, taking that leap of faith changed my life. I’m grateful for every client who has trusted me, every referral I’ve received, and every relationship that’s grown from this career. I’m proud to have earned a place in the Million Dollar Sales Club after closing more than $1.2 million in sales in a single month, but what means even more to me is knowing my clients feel informed, supported, and confident throughout the entire process.
Just as importantly, I’m proud to be able to help provide for my family through a career I genuinely love. Real estate has given me the flexibility to be present for the people who matter most while doing meaningful work that helps others achieve their dreams. For me, that’s the greatest measure of success, and I’m excited to continue building a business rooted in relationships, service, and trust.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change it for anything.
Making the decision to leave a career that had reached a standstill and start over in real estate was one of the scariest—and ultimately one of the best—decisions I’ve ever made. Real estate is a business where you’re constantly learning, adapting, and building relationships. There are highs and lows, and success doesn’t happen overnight.
Starting over meant stepping outside my comfort zone and building my business and professional network from the ground up. I had to overcome the fear of walking into large networking events by myself, introducing myself to complete strangers, and trusting that every conversation was helping lay the foundation for the business I wanted to build. There were plenty of moments of uncertainty, but I stayed focused on serving my clients well, investing in my education, and showing up consistently—even when the results weren’t immediate. And, of course, the ever-changing real estate laws and contract forms definitely keep me on my toes!
Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve learned that perseverance, patience, and resilience are just as important as knowledge and hard work. Every challenge has made me a better REALTOR®, and every client I’ve had the privilege of helping has strengthened my confidence and confirmed that taking that leap of faith was the right decision. Looking back, those struggles weren’t roadblocks—they were stepping stones that helped shape both the business I’m building and the professional I’ve become.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As part of eXp Realty, I’m backed by one of the largest cloud-based real estate brokerages in the world. While I proudly serve clients throughout the Greater Austin and San Antonio areas, I’m also connected to a nationwide and global network of trusted real estate professionals. That means whether my clients are relocating across Texas, moving to or from another state, or even purchasing property in one of the many countries where eXp operates, I can connect them with experienced agents they can trust. Having those referral partners allows me to continue serving my clients wherever life takes them while ensuring they receive the same level of care and professionalism they’ve come to expect from me.
My business as an eXp agent is built on providing a high level of service, communication, and trust throughout every step of the real estate journey. I work with buyers, sellers, and those interested in new construction, with a growing focus on luxury homes and lifestyle-driven communities.
I want my clients to feel supported long after closing day. That’s why I’ve built a trusted network that my clients can rely on before, during, and after their move.
What sets me apart is that I truly care about the people I serve. I believe real estate is about relationships, not transactions. This business requires patience – I have seen buyers take up to 5 years to finally decide to purchase. I’m committed to being responsive, educating my clients, advocating for their best interests, and making what can be a stressful process feel as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
If there’s one thing I want readers to know, it’s that when they work with me, they’re gaining a trusted advisor and long-term resource—not just a REALTOR®.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The best way to support my business is simply by keeping me in mind when you—or someone you know—is thinking about buying, selling, or relocating to or from the Austin area. Referrals are the greatest compliment I can receive, and I’m always honored when past clients, friends, and members of the community trust me enough to recommend me.
I also love collaborating with local businesses and professionals. Whether it’s partnering with lenders, home service providers, interior designers, photographers, or other small business owners, I believe strong relationships help us all better serve our clients and strengthen our community.
Even if you’re not currently in the market, I’d love to connect. Follow along on social media for local market updates, homeownership tips, new listings, and some gems about living in the Austin area. My goal is to be a trusted resource—not just during a transaction, but long afterward. Whether you need a contractor recommendation, have a real estate question, or simply want to learn more about the Austin market, I’m always happy to help.
