Today we’d like to introduce you to Saif Khan.
Hi Saif, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey started with a dream of building a better future. My journey started at Kingsborough Community College, where I took my first steps toward becoming a nurse. I earned my Associate in Science in Nursing (ASN), but that degree represented so much more than a credential. It was the beginning of a journey that would challenge me, shape me, and ultimately change the direction of my life. After completing my ASN, I knew I wasn’t finished. I wanted to continue growing, so I enrolled at Chamberlain University to earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. At the same time, I was working full-time. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I wanted to take my education even further. That brought me to SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where I pursued my master’s degree.
My time at Downstate was another chapter of growth. Graduate school challenged me academically and professionally and pushed me to think beyond simply caring for patients- to understand the clinical reasoning, responsibility, and leadership that come with advanced practice.
Along the way came long shifts, overnight hours, working while attending school, and countless moments that tested my patience, strength, and determination. But those experiences shaped me. Life has taught me that success isn’t built overnight. It’s built through consistency, sacrifice, showing up when you’re tired, and continuing even when the path isn’t clear.
It taught me how to care for people, how to advocate for others, and how to remain strong during difficult moments. As my experience grew, so did my ambitions. I pursued advanced practice and eventually found my passion in aesthetic medicine-where science, medicine, artistry, and confidence come together.That journey ultimately led me to entrepreneurship and the creation of Elevate SKN. Today, I’m building on everything nursing taught me while creating something that reflects my own vision of care. I’ll always be grateful for every experience and challenge I’ve endured because it gave me the foundation to become not only the provider I am today, but also the entrepreneur I’m becoming.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey wasn’t an easy one. There were many moments when I had to choose discipline over comfort and keep going even when I was exhausted.
I worked while going to school, balancing long shifts, overnight hours, studying, and the responsibilities of everyday life. There were days when I was physically and mentally drained, wondering if all the sacrifices would eventually pay off.
I had to learn how to keep showing up when I was tired. How to keep believing in myself when I wasn’t sure where the journey was taking me. How to be strong for my patients while also navigating my own challenges behind the scenes.
There were setbacks, self-doubt, financial sacrifices, missed opportunities, and moments where the path felt much harder than I expected. But every difficult season taught me something.
Nursing taught me resilience. It taught me how to handle pressure, advocate for others, communicate with compassion, and keep moving forward even when things weren’t going according to plan.
Coming from a place where opportunities weren’t always guaranteed, building a life and career in healthcare required a tremendous amount of sacrifice and determination. I didn’t have everything figured out-I simply refused to stop.
We’ve been impressed with Elevate SKN, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Elevate SKN is more than a business to me. It’s the result of years of experience in healthcare, a passion for aesthetics, and a desire to create the kind of environment where people feel genuinely cared for.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the atmosphere we’ve created.
I wanted Elevate SKN to be a place where everyone feels welcome, seen, heard, and respected-regardless of their age, background, gender, ethnicity, or where they are in their own journey.
Aesthetic medicine can sometimes feel intimidating. People may walk through the door carrying insecurities, questions, or even uncertainty about what they actually need. I never want someone to feel judged for those concerns.
Instead, I want us to take the time to listen.
To understand what someone is really looking for.
To understand what makes them feel confident-or what may be holding them back.
To answer questions without judgment.
To educate rather than pressure.
And most importantly, to validate that how someone feels matters.
For me, being a healthcare provider has always been about more than performing a treatment. It’s about the relationship we build with the person sitting in front of us.
One thing I’m especially proud of about Elevate SKN is that we’ve created a space where men feel just as welcome and included as women.
Aesthetic medicine has traditionally been marketed heavily toward women, and many men may feel uncomfortable walking into a med spa or unsure about where they fit into the conversation.
I wanted to change that.
At Elevate SKN, we believe in personalized care. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to beauty, confidence, or wellness. What looks right for one person may not be right for another, and our job is to understand the individual—not simply recommend a service.
I’m proud that we’re building a space where people can walk in as they are, have an honest conversation, and leave feeling like they were truly listened to.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happiest about what I do is knowing that I can help someone regain a sense of confidence in themselves.
Aesthetics is sometimes viewed as simply “looking better,” but to me, it is still medicine. The way we feel about ourselves can affect our overall well-being, mentally, physically, and psychologically. When someone feels confident, comfortable, and more like themselves, that can influence how they show up in every part of their life.
I love being able to provide a service that goes beyond the treatment itself. It’s about listening to someone, understanding what they want, creating a personalized plan, and helping them feel validated in their decision to invest in themselves.
There is something incredibly rewarding about watching someone leave feeling different-not because I changed who they are, but because I helped them reconnect with the version of themselves they wanted to see.
