Hidden Gems: Meet Tanner Brusnighan of H.O.G. Spine and Sports

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanner Brusnighan

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my professional journey working in a clinic in Houston for 7 years! The city treated me well and I am very thankful for the opportunities to work with a few professional sports organizations to develop my passion in treating athletes of all ages and skill levels! The fast paced nature of Houston began to wear on me and I desired to go out on my own and start my own business, here in Austin, with a focus on high quality care without the hurry, so that you can feel heard, and as your doctor I can really focus on you and your injury!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I am sure I was told many times that owning your own business is extremely difficult but equally rewarding! At the time of writing this, I am still in my first 6 months or so of my journey so I have not yet cashed in on all of the rewards yet. That being said, as I continue to navigate the slower days, the rejection, and the hard learned lessons, I am steadfast in my journey and I know that the course that I am on is the right thing for my future patients and myself!

As you know, we’re big fans of H.O.G. Spine and Sports. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I want to be known for my diligence and my methodical approach to caring for my patients. I never want my patients to feel like I am not able to be present with them or that their pains aren’t understood. I (somewhat jokingly) tell my patients that my end goal is to get fired, and that isn’t something that you often hear in my profession, but this is how I break it down. If I am doing a really good job, then you don’t need me anymore! I want to empower my patients to invest in their bodies and educate them on how to maintain that health outside of my office! I love being an essential part of the beginning of that journey but I love receiving the comment/call/text from a patient saying they don’t need me anymore! We accomplished what we were supposed to do which is getting you back to moving the way that you want, and getting your body moving!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I have been so blessed to have some mentors and colleagues since the time that I was in chiropractic school and they have been a constant in my journey. Since moving to Austin I joined a networking group where I have met many like minded entrepreneurs and small business owners who have been so giving with their experiences and expertise (specifically in areas that I have no previous knowledge)!
