Hidden Gems: Meet Thomas Piscitello of MOGUL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Piscitello.

Hi Thomas, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my career in fashion, and that really shaped the way I see interiors today. Working in luxury fashion taught me about proportion, texture, detail, presentation, and the feeling beauty can create. Fashion is never just about clothing. It is about identity, atmosphere, and the way someone wants to feel. That naturally evolved into interiors for me.
When I opened MOGUL in the Melrose design district, the vision was to create something more personal and layered than a traditional showroom/store. I wanted it to feel curated, glamorous, and intimate, a place where every piece had a point of view and every object added something to the story of a room.
Our new store at the Pacific Design Center is the next evolution of that vision. It is even more elevated, refined, and highly curated. We offer the best of the best, from furniture to accessories, Murano glass, lighting, art, and finishing details. We are open to the public, and everyone is welcome.
Over the years, we have been fortunate to decorate homes for incredible clients, including Rihanna, Tyler Perry, Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw, the Jonas Brothers, as well as many other private clients. We have also helped many interior designers bring something special to their projects.
Today, MOGUL offers complete interior design services, but we also specialize in the final touches. We called it “Finished by MOGUL”. Accessories, bookshelves, art, lighting, and objects are what bring soul into a home. They make a room feel finished, personal, spectacular, and alive.
I believe true luxury is comfort. It is not about trends or constantly replacing things because someone says something new is in. What resonates with you personally matters far more than what is fashionable at the moment. A beautiful home should make you want to spend time in it. It should reflect who you are, how you live, and what makes you feel inspired.
Sometimes a client does not need to change all of their furniture or start over completely. We can come into a home and transform the feeling of the space through art, accessories, styling, books, objects, and finishing details. Those layers can completely elevate a home and make it feel considered, luxurious, and deeply personal. For me, that is where the magic happens, when a house becomes a home with soul.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely has not always been a smooth road. Any business has challenges, and in design and retail you have to constantly evolve.
One of the biggest struggles has been staying true to our vision while the industry keeps changing. There is always pressure to follow trends or carry what everyone else is carrying, but that was never MOGUL. We have always wanted to offer something more personal, more curated, and more special.
There are also the real challenges of running a showroom, from finding the right pieces and working with artisans around the world, to shipping, timing, installations, and making sure every client feels taken care of. It takes a lot of work behind the scenes to make something look effortless.
At the same time, we’ve been very fortunate that with our decorating services, clients usually find us organically. We don’t really have to advertise that part of the business. People see our work, they feel the atmosphere we create, and they want that for their own home. Word of mouth and the work itself have always been the best advertising.
The challenges have made us stronger. They pushed us to refine who we are, what we offer, and how we work with clients. Today, MOGUL feels more focused than ever.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about MOGUL?
MOGUL is a luxury interiors store and design studio at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. We offer a highly curated selection of furniture, lighting, art, accessories, Murano glass, and objects for the home. We are open to designers and to the public, and our goal is always to help people create homes that feel beautiful, personal, and full of soul.
We are known for our eye. Everything at MOGUL is carefully selected, from statement furniture to the smallest finishing detail. We do not believe in filling a room just to fill it. Every piece has to add something, create a feeling, and make the space more special.
In addition to the store / showroom, we offer complete interior design services, but we also specialize in the final layer of a home. Art, accessories, bookshelves, lighting, objects, styling, those details can completely transform a space. Sometimes clients do not need to change everything. With the right pieces, we can make a home feel elevated, finished, and spectacular.
What sets us apart is that we do not follow trends. We focus on what feels timeless, personal, and right for the client. True luxury is comfort. It is a room you actually want to spend time in. A home should reflect who you are, not what someone says is fashionable at the moment.
Brand wise, I am most proud that MOGUL has stayed true to its vision. We have built a world that feels curated, glamorous, intimate, and very personal. Our clients come to us because they want something special, and because they trust our eye.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I definitely did not get here alone. I have been very lucky to have incredible people around me, from clients who trusted my vision, to designers, artisans, and vendors who helped bring that vision to life.
Our clients deserve a lot of credit. Many of them have been with us for years, and so much of our business has grown through word of mouth. When someone invites you into their home and trusts you to make it more beautiful and more personal, that is very special.
I also give a lot of credit to our team and to the people we work with every day. A store like MOGUL is not built by one person. It takes a lot of talent, patience, taste, and hard work behind the scenes.
And of course, my husband and business partner, Jaka, has played a huge role in the evolution of MOGUL. He brings so much energy, creativity, and care to the business, and together we keep pushing the brand forward.
