Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Jacobs.
Hi Aaron, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Love is Human began in California. Our founders came from the Samala Chumash tribe and created Love is Human originally as an entertainment production company in 2020. We created multiple event opportunities to help performers in Ventura and Santa Barbara County endure the results of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our situation eventually changed once we came to Austin, TX. Through the advisers of Chumash Capital Investments, we decided to launch our journey as an established 501(c)(3) after working with the Life After AmeriCorps Conference of 2023. We brought music, artistry, and culture to the community and began reforming our organization. By expanding upon our tribal teachings, we created sanctuary spots for the community and started collaborating with other organizations and small businesses to build our new foundation… A foundation created for the sole purpose of reigniting the hearts and minds of those in need.
With our redefined purpose as a 501(c)(3), we served over 2,000+ community members and 12+ organizations within our first 3 years by providing event opportunities, art exhibitions, and various programs that supported performing and fine arts artists from the LGBTQIA+ community and other sub demographics. In doing so, we have captivated the hearts and minds of so many people to remind them how to follow their dreams and passions.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a 501(c)(3) with a journey such as ours, we’ve definitely had some struggles. We started during a time when the world was changing dramatically due to COVID-19, and we made it our mission to endure. Born from that strife, we took our ambitions and manifested the nonprofit we call Love is Human today. Through sheer will and dedication, we helped numerous community members share their voices and talents throughout Central Texas. And, it’s all thanks to generous contributions from our board members and the volunteer hours accumulated by our Partnership Advocates. Without them and the organizations we’ve partnered and collaborated with, we would’ve never reached this point in our journey.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Love is Human provides a variety of services and experiences that have uplifted and reignited the hearts and minds of our community since the beginning. Whether it’s the Love is Legacy program that connects artists with the right opportunities to share their stories and talents, the Exploring Innovation program that assists small businesses and organizations, the Love in the Streets program that provides free or discounted services for low-income or unhoused individuals, or the Partnership Advocate program that provides ongoing professional development, we will find the right program for your needs as we help you fight for your dreams.
What sets us apart is we are an organization of life-long learners that empower the community through love inspired by the teachings of the Samala Chumash tribe thanks to our founding members. This has resulted in more holistic practices that the community seems to enjoy. Our number one review that we receive consistently is that you can always feel the love when you’re working with us because of these values.
Not to mention, we are in the business of creating spaces for the arts to thrive. We find that empowering local artists can boost the culture of Central Texas while inspiring others to pursue creative outlets that in turn help our artists to grow, and we will continue to growing alongside them.
What are your plans for the future?
We plan on finding more small businesses, venues, and organizations to partner with to continue growing our efforts to create sanctuary spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community and other groups while supporting their dreams and ambitions. We are always willing to collaborate with other organizations like ours when we can, and we value everyone that joins our mission. Eventually, we plan on obtaining grants to further our support for the general community, but we will endure as we always have until that goal has been achieved.
