Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Escobar-Knight.
Hi Ana , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been a licensed esthetician for 17 years and a permanent makeup artist for 13. My early experience was rooted in medical spa environments, where I developed a strong foundation in results-oriented skincare. Just before opening my own business, I worked at Baylor Scott and White Cosmetic Surgery Center in Temple, Texas, a pivotal time that gave me firsthand experience in a clinical setting and deepened my understanding of advanced skincare treatments.
I started Ana Belen Skincare about 10 years ago with a vision to offer high-quality skincare treatments that required little to no downtime. I began humbly in a single treatment room and slowly grew as my clientele expanded. I eventually moved into a space with three treatment rooms, and over time, was able to open a standalone storefront. That’s when I began adding team members and creating a space that could serve even more clients while maintaining the personalized care that built the business.
As my skincare services grew, so did my passion and skill in permanent makeup. I invested heavily in continuing education and refining my techniques, and that part of the business has flourished alongside skincare. Today, Ana Belen Skincare is a space where clinical expertise meets a warm, approachable experience and I’m proud of how far it’s come.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? Not at all but every bump along the way has taught me something valuable.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced was overcoming the fear of expansion. Going from working alone in a single room to managing a team and a larger storefront was a huge leap. It’s easy to stay comfortable when things are going well, but real growth requires risk. Pushing past that fear was a defining moment in my journey.
COVID was another major turning point. At first, the forced shutdown gave me time to refocus. I used that space to think about what was working, what wasn’t, and where I wanted the business to go. But I’ll be honest after that, my motivation stalled. The uncertainty lingered, and I found myself moving cautiously, almost hesitantly. It was like I had one foot on the gas and one on the brake.
What I’ve come to realize is that finding the right balance is everything. When you lean too far in one direction, whether that’s overworking, over-delegating, or playing it too safe it can hold your business back. That awareness has helped me reset.
Now, I feel re-energized and ready to grow again. I’ve got a clearer vision, a stronger sense of purpose, and I’m restructuring the business to support that next phase of expansion with more confidence and intention than ever before.

Ana Belen Skincare is a results-driven skincare and permanent makeup studio with a focus on treatments that deliver noticeable improvements without significant downtime. I created it to complement the in-office treatments we offer and to give clients access to high-quality, results-oriented products they can trust. On the permanent makeup side, our services are designed to enhance natural beauty with precision and artistry. We’re especially known for our brow work, which has become a signature offering within our brand.
Above all, I’m proud of the trust we’ve built over the years. Ana Belen Skincare isn’t just a business, it’s a space where people feel seen, cared for, and empowered. We’re continuing to grow and evolve, but our commitment to integrity, results, and real relationships remains at the core of everything we do.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’ve definitely had people along the way who’ve made a big impact on my journey. About eight years ago, as I was beginning to expand, I worked with a mentor named Maxine Drake. She was instrumental in helping me lay the foundation. Her guidance during that phase gave me the confidence to take those early steps toward growth.
Now, as I enter a new chapter of restructuring and scaling the business, I’m working with another consultant, Daniela Woerner, who’s helping me refine systems and strategy for long-term success. Having the right people in your corner people who know what they’re doing and can offer clarity when things feel overwhelming is invaluable.
I’m also incredibly thankful for my team. My shortest-tenured employee has been with me for five years, which speaks volumes about the loyalty and culture we’ve built. They’ve grown with me, adapted through changes, and have been a steady, supportive force in the evolution of the business. I truly couldn’t do it without them.
