Hi Cynthia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into esthetics started from a very personal place.
As a teenager, I struggled with severe acne. I remember what it felt like to feel uncomfortable in my own skin—to not want to go out, or hang out with friends because I was worried about how my skin looked.
That experience stayed with me.
When I became an esthetician, I knew I wanted to do more than provide skincare treatments. I wanted to help people feel confident in their own skin. I wanted every person who walked through my doors to know that God created our beauty very unique and that they deserve to feel comfortable, confident, and proud of themselves.
After working in larger, fast-paced companies and med spas, I realized something was missing. So much of the industry can feel focused on quantity over quality—getting clients in and out as quickly as possible, without always having the time to truly listen, educate, and create a personalized experience.
That’s why I created Zeya Med Spa.
I wanted to build a space where skincare feels personal—not rushed. A place where you can slow down, receive intentional self-care, feel safe and actually understand your skin and how to care for it long-term.
I also wanted Zeya to be a place that feels welcoming and accessible to my Hispanic community. I know how important it is to feel understood, represented, and comfortable when receiving care. My goal is to provide education, guidance, and treatments that help people build healthy skin while feeling confident in who they are.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not really. Starting your own business is always scary. I was always saying what if people don’t show up. Should I continue to work somewhere else just in case. Having all the insurance and stay on up to date with Texas laws. The water situation has been difficult. Having to bring clean water from home. Making sure I have water for my clients to use the bathroom.
So let me explain the water situation. Where my spa is. I am located in South Austin behind my dad’s Auto sale shop. So that already sometimes makes people question if they are in the right spot. For some reason when my dad bought the land there was no septic installed. However he started building his office and everything around it and then I came along and for me I need water, so we contacted and engineer, but that engineer said he couldn’t do anything and everything needed to be turned down so he can make the sketch of where the septic should be. We decide to stop everything and took our self out of the city of Austin so they would not fine us. So the water situation is for sure a struggle and more work, but I am managing because I love what I do

What was your favorite childhood memory?
uhh this is a hard one. I am a family oriented person, so I have a lot , but I think my favorite one that I can never take for granted is my parents always picking me up and dropping me off at school every single day. They will pick up my little sister from elementary and then me at O.Henrry and while we waited for my older brother to get out of high school we will stop at 7-eleven for a slurpee and hot pocket.
