Inspiring Conversations with Holly Moore of Maids and Moore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Moore

Hi Holly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2008, I was a 7th-grade math teacher in Austin, Texas, with no idea that I would one day own and operate one of the most recognized residential cleaning businesses in the state. A friend’s mom, who had already started a successful cleaning company, encouraged me to open my own location in Austin. So, with a mop, a dream, and a determination to succeed, I launched Maids and Moore.

I had no formal business background—just a strong work ethic and the belief that if I worked hard enough, I could make it happen. I kept my head down, hired amazing managers, and crushed goal after goal, growing Maids and Moore into what it is today—three locations and over 150 employees. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that a small-town girl from a Texas farm and ranch, who graduated from Texas A&M, would build a thriving company of this size.

Growing up on a farm taught me perseverance and grit—qualities that helped me push through the many challenges of building a business from the ground up.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building Maids and Moore has been anything but easy. In the early days, I was doing it all—scrubbing toilets, handling customer calls, and managing every aspect of the business. There were days I questioned if I had made the right decision, but I reminded myself that if it were easy, everyone would do it.

One of the hardest parts was getting myself out of the field and hiring staff. At first, I struggled to trust others with the quality of work I wanted to deliver. Then, once I started growing, I faced the challenge of figuring out how to pay myself consistently while still reinvesting in the company. As the business expanded further, I had to learn how to delegate to managers and trust them to lead.

Each phase of growth brought new struggles, but I tackled them one by one. Now, looking back, I realize that every challenge was just a stepping stone to where we are today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Maids and Moore?
At Maids and Moore, our mission is simple: “Creating Time for Busy People.”

We specialize in residential cleaning services in Austin and Houston, offering:
✅ Routine cleanings (weekly, biweekly, monthly)
✅ Deep cleans & move-in/move-out services

Most of our clients are busy households where both parents work and simply need help. They don’t have time to spend hours cleaning, and they also don’t have time to go through a complicated booking process. That’s why we’ve made our quote and scheduling system as easy and seamless as possible—because when time is your most valuable resource, simplicity matters.

What truly sets Maids and Moore apart is our family-like culture. We treat both our customers and employees with care and respect, and that’s why so many people have stayed with us for years.

Through my experience scaling Maids and Moore, I saw firsthand how challenging it can be to manage and grow a cleaning business efficiently. That’s why my team and I created The Cleaning Software—a tool designed specifically to help cleaning service owners streamline their operations.

If you know other cleaning service owners who are looking to simplify their processes, grow their business, and improve efficiency, send them to www.thecleaningsoftware.com. It’s been a game-changer for Maids and Moore, and now it’s helping other cleaning companies succeed as well.

To anyone looking for a trusted, professional cleaning service, I invite you to visit www.maidsandmoore.com to get a quote and book today. We always have specials running, so ask our sales team for the latest offers.

What started as a dream in 2008 has now become a company that helps hundreds of families reclaim their time. I couldn’t be more grateful for this journey, and I’m excited for what’s ahead for Maids and Moore!

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
From a young age, I was always a spitfire. My parents love to remind me that even as a little girl, I was bossy and competitive—always wanting to be part of adult conversations and figure things out. I’ve never met a stranger, and I’ve always been driven to work hard, help others, and lead teams to success.

Sports played a big role in shaping my mindset. The discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills I learned on the field helped prepare me for the business world, where every day requires problem-solving and determination.

Now, with three thriving locations and an incredible team, I am more passionate than ever about helping my employees grow and ensuring that Maids and Moore continues to serve our customers with excellence and integrity.
