Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Chavarria.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It all began when I met Marcus.
When I first met him, Marcus was young, ambitious, a small business owner, extremely charming. He owned a concrete company and was already deep in the construction world. I was fresh out of college, had just started my own events and marketing company, and was living a completely different lifestyle.
Then came our first date… which did not go well — to say the least!
Let’s just say his brother ended up coming to get him before lunch even happened. That should tell you everything.
In all fairness, I was a lot too. I was young, full of energy, and in the events and marketing industry — basically paid to party. So neither one of us was exactly calm or grounded at that point in our lives.
But Marcus was persistent. And despite that disastrous first date, we kept talking, kept showing up, and fell in love and started building a life together and growing our family — and that’s when everything truly began.
As our relationship grew, so did Marcus’s business — and eventually, I became part of it.
At first, I helped where I could. Answering phones, scheduling appointments, organizing paperwork, following up with clients. Simple things. But I saw the growth in real time. The work Marcus was doing was solid — he had the skill, the drive, and the reputation — the business side needed structure, systems, and branding. That’s where my background in events and marketing came in.
What started as “helping out” slowly became a full transition. I began restructuring operations, building internal systems, improving customer communication, creating branding, and developing marketing strategies.
I went from planning high-end events to managing job schedules, subcontractors, and concrete pours — which was definitely not something I saw coming.
It was a massive lifestyle shift.!
I went from polished events and social settings to muddy boots, job sites, and early morning calls. But I believed in what we were building, and I believed in Marcus. And most importantly, I trusted God was guiding us into something bigger than we could see at the time.
We started small — patios and driveways — then moved into custom foundations, then full custom homes, and eventually full-scale developments. Every phase brought new challenges, bigger risks, hard lessons, and moments of doubt. There were setbacks. There were failures. There were seasons where everything felt heavy. But we stayed consistent, stayed humble, kept learning, and leaned heavily on faith.
Along the way, we didn’t just build a company — we built a family. Our network of subcontractors, vendors, and partners has grown into something truly special. Many of the people who started with us in the early days are still with us today.
We’ve watched their families grow alongside ours, celebrated milestones together, and supported each other through challenges. They’re not just workers — they’re family. And that sense of loyalty, trust, and respect is the foundation of how we operate. We believe that when you take care of your people, they take care of your clients, and that’s been a huge part of why Anew Build has grown the way it has.
All of this while juggling parenthood; were the proud parents of a 13yr old boy named Maxxen and a 10 year girl named Valentina— school, sports, practices, late nights, early mornings, and constant motion. It was chaos. But it was our chaos. And it shaped who we are as leaders, business owners, and parents.
Some of the memories that stand out the most are from those early days…
I remember having just given birth, still in my hospital bed, answering phone calls, scheduling appointments.. lining up work for Marcus to knock down. There was no pause. No maternity leave. Just pure determination, survival mode, and faith. We were building a business and raising a family at the same time — learning as we went.
Looking back, Anew Build isn’t just a company. It’s our story. It’s everything we’ve been through — the struggles, the wins, the late nights, the prayers, the lessons, and the growth. It’s our family, our faith, and a whole lot of hard work.
Anew Build isn’t just what we do — it’s who we are.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are a million stories I could give from hard mistakes learned by not reading the fine print on a 30 page commercial contract to clients not wanting to pay to theft on jobsites and more.
But like any business or anything you do in life. Its going to come with ups and downs. One thing Marcus has taught me over the years is to not focus on the problem but instead the solution. We always try to take things in stride and use it as a lesson
