Inspiring Conversations with Jessica Maitri of The Yothera Method

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Maitri.

Hi Jessica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m Jess Maitri, and I created Yothera Method for both you, the therapist, and for your clients.

The word “Yothera” is the combination of the words “Yoga” and “Therapy.” When we reference the word “yoga” in this method, we are not specifically talking bout the asanas (body positions), but more specifically the word yoga means “union” of body, mind, and spirit. While movement therapy and yoga therapy techniques are part of this modality, The Yothera Method is a unique therapeutic modality that combines both brain + body practices that bypass “talk therapy” or logic, and focuses on accessing the mid-brain, nervous system regulation, and deeper parts of the subconscious that lead to true and lasting healing.

The Yothera Method includes a focus on re-connection to the body, intuition development, and incorporates modern psychology concepts into a truly mind/body/spirit holistic approach to healing. Some of the modalities that make up the Yothera Method include Brainspotting, Yoga Therapy, Internal Family Systems + Inner Child healing, Accessing intuitive information from your higher Self and guidance team, Somatic Breathwork, and other energetic modalities that create lasting change through bypassing the logic/talk-therapy realm.

Traditional therapy approaches weren’t working for me, both professionally for me as a therapist, and personally for me as a client.

My clients weren’t experiencing lasting change, and I was experiencing burn-out and compassion fatigue. I began realizing that the profession that I had chosen was simply not resonating with me any longer, and that something needed to be changed in order to make it sustainable for me, and deeply helpful for my clients.

I began searching out other forms of healing and transforming that fit me on multiple levels, trusting and following my own intuition over several years of personal growth and healing. I participated in many alternative trainings that incorporated holistic healing approaches such as yoga therapy, therapeutic breathwork, and spiritual development, as well as working with the unconscious mind. These additional trainings assisted me not only to heal personally on a holistic level, but provided me with a whole new perspective of therapy, and holistic healing.

I began implementing these approaches in therapy with my own clients, which was followed by numerous colleagues approaching me, and referring their own clients to me. As I continued fine-tuning this personalized modality based on what worked for me as a client, and as a therapist, this was the beginning of the creation of the Yothera Method.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road 🙂 But it has been a purposeful, soulful journey lead by my own creative intuition and faith to be lead along the way. I have had to keep creating and sharing this Method even when I felt like nothing was happening, no one was interested, but I just kept going. I have learned to let the Yothera Method show me how it wanted to be shared in the world, instead of me trying to control how it was shared and the timing of this vision.

We’ve been impressed with The Yothera Method, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Yothera Method is a program that offers 26 CE’s, and is designed to offer a totally new way for therapists to express themselves within their profession, as well as a new way for clients to receive holistic therapeutic support. It is both a personal transformation journey for the therapist, as well as a training to learn new skills to use with their clients all in one.

The Yothera Method frees individuals from the deeply-rooted, unconscious patterns that inhibit them from living their most authentic life, and feeling truly alive. It awakens all parts of a person, giving them full access to their unique gifts and life purpose, and support in their most authentic self expression.

Yothera Method takes working with the unconscious mind to the next level by helping individuals use the power of their subconscious for healing and transformation. Instead of simply understanding how the unconscious mind works, Yothera Method also teaches individuals how to use the unconscious through their own embodied experience, making them the conscious creator of their new story.

Yothera Method is an experiential approach, not simply a concept to understand

How: Our subconscious mind represents the data, programming, hard drive, and operating system–which makes up roughly 90% of the mind. Intuition is what comes out of the subconscious, that’s non-logical: such as dreams, symbols, feelings, and sensations through the body as the translator.

Yothera Method encourages development of intuition, which is believed to be mixed with “spirit” or “higher self” which many desire to connect with
Yothera Method acknowledges the client as their own healer, and is creative, fun, and future-focused (the opposite of many traditional therapy approaches)

Yothera Method is both an individual and group journey, with support and connection throughout the entire process (instead of an isolated journey)

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
