Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Siegel.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My path didn’t start with a design school degree or a grand plan. It started with curiosity and a deep belief that the spaces we live in shape how we feel every day. Partnering with my husband Daniel, along with co-owning California Closets of the Texas Hill Country for almost 20 years, was really our first education in what people truly want from their homes. Spending years transforming closets and the most personal and functional spaces for families, we learned to listen at a different level. We quickly understood a beautifully organized closet isn’t just storage. It’s the start of a calmer morning and a more intentional day.
Over the years, our clients trusted us and had seen our precision, design fluency, and care firsthand, and they wanted that same experience applied to the rooms where their family actually gathered, especially the kitchen. As well, Austin’s remarkable transformation and growth brought even more homeowners, especially those relocating from major design markets, with an appetite for elevated, functional design, not chasing trends. Longtime Austinites are also investing more intentionally in their homes. What we saw across both groups was a shift away from builder-grade toward spaces that felt considered, personal and built to last. That’s exactly what LAVISH was created for.
Daniel and I deeply immersed ourselves in European cabinetry, manufacturing standards, material sourcing, hardware systems, and installation methods. We spent years doing that work quietly alongside our California Closets business, refining our process and our standards before we ever put a name to it.
In 2016, LAVISH kitchen + bath was officially born. We opened our showroom at the Domain Northside, where we kick off what we like to refer to as an exuberant client experience.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building LAVISH from the ground up while running an established franchise operation requires a level of discipline and compartmentalization that was hard to plan for. Every resource we invested in learning the latest designs and sourcing the right suppliers who shared our standards, was a calculated risk. In the early years we were still proving the concept, but with consistent client demand and satisfaction, we knew we were moving in the right direction.
Our clients have high expectations, which means there is little room for error in the luxury design process. That’s from the first consultation through final installation completion, and even how the space feels and holds up over time. Getting projects right preserves the relationship, and the results matter more to us than the margin on a project.
What has carried us through is the clarity of our vision and the partnership Daniel and I have built. We complement each other in ways that directly serve the business. He brings operational excellence and I bring the design sensibility and client service management. That partnership is the foundation we come back to every time, especially through any challenging times.
As you know, we’re big fans of LAVISH kitchen + bath. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
LAVISH kitchen + bath specializes in bespoke European cabinetry and construction for kitchens, bathrooms, bars – spaces in the home that deserve that same level of intention. What we’re really doing is transforming how people experience their daily lives. A kitchen is where the rhythm of your household plays out every single morning, creates the connection through cooking and food, and offers a place to entertain guests. A bathroom is where you begin and end each day. When those spaces are designed with real care, everything feels different.
We bring the best in global design trends and materials while keeping our manufacturing local. All of our cabinetry is produced with offerings from premium European and North American suppliers and crafted right here in Central Texas at our facility in Selma. That combination gives our clients access to a full suite of finishes, organizational systems, and custom configurations that most firms simply can’t offer. And because we coordinate the entire process, clients have a seamless, turnkey experience from concept to completion. We call it an exuberant client experience: we want people to feel energized by the process, not drained by it.
What I’m most proud of is the integration between LAVISH and California Closets of the Texas Hill Country. Together, these businesses allow us to serve a client’s whole home. The same philosophy of precision, artistry, and intentional design runs through both. Whether we’re designing a kitchen, a master bath, or a custom closet system, the client gets the same standard of care and the same commitment to getting it right.
What sets us apart is that we hold both sides of the equation equally: design fluency and construction quality. A lot of firms excel at one or the other. We’ve worked very hard to be excellent at both, because our clients shouldn’t have to choose between a space that looks extraordinary and one that functions beautifully in real life.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The best starting point is a conversation. We offer complementary design consultations where we get to know how you actually live and move in your home space, then we build from there. Every project is custom.
We welcome anyone to visit our showroom at Domain Northside because seeing the materials, finishes and craftsmanship up close is really the most compelling way to understand what we can do.
