Inspiring Conversations with Maria Orozova of Guad Haus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Orozova.

Hi Maria , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been drawn to spaces that tell a story. As an entrepreneur and creative, I’ve spent years helping brands build their identities, shaping how they look, sound, and connect with people. But I’ve also seen firsthand how much our surroundings influence the way we think, collaborate, and create.

When the opportunity came up to reimagine an older building off Guadalupe Street in Austin, it immediately felt right. I envisioned a space that didn’t have to feel bland or overly corporate – one that could inspire creativity, connection, and genuine collaboration. That vision became Guad Haus.

We transformed the building from the inside out, blending its original character with new energy – layered textures, creative yet purpose-driven design, and flexible rooms that serve as both workspaces and gathering spots. Today, Guad Haus operates as a rentable creative hub where businesses, artists, and entrepreneurs can come together to brainstorm, host, and grow.

It’s the physical expression of what I’ve always believed: when you build with purpose, you create space for ideas – and people – to flourish.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think any creative (or construction) project ever goes completely smoothly, especially when you’re transforming an entire building while managing multiple agencies and juggling the ups and downs of everyday life. There were plenty of moments that tested our adaptability – design decisions that evolved midstream, moments that called for quick thinking, and the constant need to pivot and problem-solve.

But that’s also what made it so rewarding. Every challenge pushed us to think creatively and stay grounded in the vision. I had an incredible team that approached every detail with so much care and patience. In the end, those twists and turns shaped the character of the space. The small imperfections and shifts became part of its story.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Guad Haus?
I’m an entrepreneur and creative at heart – someone who loves building things from the ground up. For me, it’s always been about blending creativity and business in a way that feels intentional. I’ve spent my career helping brands tell their stories through strategy, design, and connection, and Guad Haus became a natural extension of that same philosophy.

This space represents everything I believe in: thoughtful design, meaningful experiences, and community at the center of it all. I wanted to create a place where ideas could flow freely, where people feel inspired to create, connect, and collaborate in new ways.

I’m most proud of how Guad Haus has evolved, not just as an aesthetically pleasing space, but as an environment that sparks creativity and brings people together in ways I always hoped it would.

What sets me apart is that I approach every project with both head and heart, balancing strategy with soul. Whether it’s developing a brand, leading a creative vision, or designing a space, my goal is always the same: to create something that inspires people and leaves a lasting impact.

What’s next?
Looking ahead, my focus is really on Guad Haus and everything it has the potential to become. We’ve spent so much time bringing this vision to life, and now the exciting part begins: watching it grow, evolve, and take on a life of its own. Our goal is to continue building a community around the space—hosting events, welcoming new members, and finding creative ways for people to experience it. There’s so much possibility in what Guad Haus can offer, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how it continues to spark new ideas, relationships, and creativity.

At the same time, I’ve always naturally gravitated toward buildings and real estate—there’s something incredibly fulfilling about taking an idea that starts on paper or on a screen and turning it into something tangible. So alongside Guad Haus, I’m planning to continue building out my real estate development firm and property portfolio and partnering with others to bring new visions to life. It feels like a natural extension of creativity, just expressed through physical structures.

Not everyone has the stomach for construction and all the uncertainty that comes with it, but I actually thrive on that process—the problem-solving, the transformation, the constant evolution. I’ve got a couple of really interesting projects already lined up, and building out this side of my career is definitely what’s next.

After such an intense build and launch with Guad Haus, the immediate future will be about nurturing what we’ve created—making sure it runs smoothly, feels alive, and becomes something people truly enjoy being part of. But the beauty of projects like this is that they never really end; they keep inspiring new ideas and opening up new paths. I’m excited for everything ahead and all the possibilities still waiting to be explored.
