Inspiring Conversations with Mark Wonderlin of Mosaic Media Films

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Wonderlin.

Hi Mark, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Right out of college I worked for a small sporting goods manufacturer on a tiny marketing team, which meant I was doing a little bit of everything. Packaging design, print ads, social, web, SEO, product photography, and of course video. It wasn’t a video job. It was a marketing job that happened to include video. I learned so much on how marketing is actually supposed to function – more than pretty pictures it’s about connecting with an audience and having them take action.

When I moved to Austin, I saw a pretty obvious gap. Businesses had one real option for video: cheap broadcast-style commercials with no story craft no online marketing strategy. Nobody was making cinematic content that was also built to actually move the needle for sales and marketing. So I started Mosaic to fix that.

The first few years it was just me. Solo, freelancing, building the business project by project. The work caught enough attention that I got asked to teach what I was doing, so I ran a training company on the side for about three years before coming back to production full-time and building a real team.

Today Mosaic is Austin’s highest-rated video production company with 200+ five-star reviews and clients like Silicon Labs, Favor, and Indeed. What gets me out of bed is the work itself. Telling stories for the companies literally building the world around us, the ones nobody ever puts in front of a camera. That’s the part I’ll never get tired of.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, no. It hasn’t been a smooth road, and I’d be lying if I said otherwise.

The biggest lessons came from growing too fast. Spending too aggressively on marketing, and learning the hard way that hiring the right people matters more than hiring quickly.

I’ve had to make tough calls and let people go, which is never fun, but every time it taught me something about what this business actually needs versus what I thought it needed.

The other one that stings is unpaid invoices. You deliver every frame, every revision, every deliverable they asked for, and then they go silent. That happens more in this industry than people talk about, and it forces you to get smarter about contracts, deposits, and reading clients early.

If anything, those bumps are what shaped Mosaic into what it is now. Leaner, sharper, more selective about who we work with, and built around a team I genuinely trust. The struggle is the reason we’re good at this.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Mosaic Media Films is a premium B2B video production company based in Austin, serving clients across Texas and nationally. We make cinematic video content built to actually do a job. Generate leads, build trust, close deals, train teams, fill events. Beautiful work that’s also engineered to move the business forward.

Most video companies fall into one of two camps. They make pretty videos with no strategic purpose, or they make fast cheap content with no production craft. We live in the middle. Cinematic quality plus marketing intelligence. That combination is rare, and it’s the whole reason Mosaic exists.

What we specialize in is brand storytelling for B2B companies. Brand films, customer testimonials, recruitment videos, training content, event coverage, and full campaign packages. Every project starts with a strategy conversation before anyone picks up a camera, because the goal isn’t a video. The goal is the outcome the video is supposed to drive.

What sets us apart is that I’m in every first conversation personally. Clients aren’t getting handed off from a salesperson to a creative team. They’re getting the strategic and creative mind from the first call. That changes the entire dynamic of the project, and it’s the reason our clients keep coming back.

What I’m most proud of, brand wise, is the reputation we’ve built. We’re Austin’s highest-rated video production company with over 200 five-star Google reviews. That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because we treat every project like our name is on it, because it is.

What I want your readers to know is this. If you’ve ever been burned by video that looked good but didn’t perform, or you’ve spent money on content that nobody watched, you’re not alone, and you’re not the problem. The problem is most video gets made without a plan. We do it differently, and we’d love the chance to show you what that looks like.

What makes you happy?
Honestly, the thing that makes me happiest in this business is the moment a client goes from confused to really clear.

A lot of people come to us knowing they need video. They feel the value of it, they know it works, but they have no idea how to put the pieces together. They don’t know what to shoot, where it should live on the marketing or sales side of things, how it fits into systems, or what good even looks like. They’re a little lost, and that’s a frustrating place to be when you’ve got budget on the line.

What I love is sitting down with that person and walking them through it. Showing them what’s possible with the marketing they already have running, pointing out the channels and strategies they hadn’t considered, and then casting a creative vision for the project itself. The shift you can see in someone when the whole picture finally clicks, that’s the part I’ll never get tired of.

And then watching them roll it out, seeing it actually work, getting the results they were chasing, and having them come back to us for the next project and the one after that. That’s the loop. A confused lead becomes a confident client becomes a long-term partner. When that happens, that’s the huge win for me.
