Inspiring Conversations with Paige Balius of Paige Balius Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Balius.

Hi Paige, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was working a desk job in my early 20s, not living my healthiest life, when I wanted to make a change. I started taking cardio kickboxing classes (which were brand new at the time) when I found my passion for fitness. A few months in, I was recruited to become the teacher. After a year of teaching in the evenings, I was introduced to a Medical Exercise Specialist who had an apprenticeship program for personal trainers. Fortunately, he was willing to take me on as one of his students. I became certified and quickly had to quit my day job so that I could train all my clients. There weren’t many personal trainers in Austin at that time, and I was extremely lucky.

Throughout the last 27 years, I have trained men and women of all ages, but I feel most called to serve women in midlife. As women, we’re so busy taking care of everyone else that by the time we reach midlife, we don’t have the strength and energy to do what we want to do. My mission is to help women change that. And I make it easy by coming to them. No gym membership required.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a personal trainer, especially a mobile one, is never a smooth road. Scheduling is one of the hardest parts of my job, and I hate telling potential clients that I can’t fit them in. However, in low seasons (typically summer and Christmas), it can be a challenge when everyone goes out of town at the same time. Now that I’m a seasoned veteran, I know how to plan, but in the beginning, it was rough. Pro Tip: If you want to hire a personal trainer for a short period of time in a much-demanded timeslot, hire them in the summer!

As you know, we’re big fans of Paige Balius Fitness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a mobile personal trainer who specializes in helping women over 40 navigate their fitness during this time of diminishing hormones. I design a personalized program for her – factoring in lifestyle, sleep patterns, stress level, aches & pains – and bring it to her front door. I also offer a personalized playlist containing video demonstrations of each exercise that she can refer to when she’s exercising on her own. My goal is to get her to the point where she can confidently navigate her own exercise program and become the independent, self-assured, strong woman capable of living her best life!
