Inspiring Conversations with Veronica Chappel of Texas Placenta Service

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Chappel.

Veronica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I own Texas Placenta Service, and I have encapsulated hundreds of placentas since 2016.

Like a lot of women who have a baby, becoming a mom changed me and the entire path I was on.
When I got pregnant with my first, I wanted a plan for after birth because I had family members suffer from Postpartum Depression, and we didn’t have any family near us to help after Baby was born. That’s when I first learned about how placentas could help moms feel better faster after birth. The more I learned about it the more it resonated with me. So I hired a local company to help me.  I was so glad I did it instantly.  My placenta capsules were my little happy pills that kept my days from getting gray and sad for the first few months after birth.  And my husband could tell if I forgot to take them. A few months in & I knew the difference it had made for me.
I decided to start my Placenta Encapsulation Service after I experienced the benefits of taking my own placenta pills 12 years ago.
I felt a calling to help other families do the same.  So, I started my in depth placenta training in 2015 with the most reputable training organization (The Association of Placenta Preparation Arts). I started serving clients in 2016 and began growing my business in Los Angeles where we were residing.
Fast forward to 6 years later when I was pregnant again, and low and behold, during 2020. It was also just after losing my parents. In addition to all that, during this 2nd pregnancy, we decided that once Baby came, we would uproot our businesses, pack everything up, & move back home to Texas, to be closer to family.
I had my Baby, & I had hired a different placenta company (because I know the work that goes into the preparation, and even though I *could* do it myself, rest is too important after giving birth). I could again see how my placenta pills helped so much, especially with the after birth pains (which were much worse this time), giving me more energy (which was important being needed for another child & packing for a move), and giving me an overall emotionally balanced feeling. And then through a cross-country move 1 month later. (yea, the rest was a joke because of the move – I want a re-do on that postpartum)
Anyways, Texas is where my heart has longed to be, so I’m very happy to be here serving my local community from Austin to San Antonio.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I had all the initial struggles of “holding every position” in the company. I built my own website by watching youtube videos on SEO and website building. I did all my own copywriting & branding based on my research and the service I wanted to provide. I set up all the client management workflows to make the process smooth on the back end and front end.
But my biggest obstacle has been moving my very localized service across the country, practically starting over in a new community. It’s the hardest for me to get back out there with boots on the ground, back in to introducing myself as the new one on the scene, networking with other birth professionals. I have to say though, about the community spirit here in Austin is unmatched in comparison to meeting other professionals in other cities. I don’t feel like I am stepping on toes here, there is abundance, and more business is welcome. I have been welcomed.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I have personally hired 2 other placenta companies to encapsulate for me after birth, and while I reaped the benefits of my placenta pills, I was looking for a little more in the overall experience.
So, that’s what I’ve done. I have curated the service experience I was looking for… A “one-click & order everything I need for the whole process”, a “do it all online without needing to talk to anyone”, & a peace of mind because all my questions were already answered & I know exactly what to expect… kind of experience.  I provide that complete start to finish service, and you don’t need anything extra for this process once you hire me.
Beyond the service experience, I have taken extra precautions in the preparation process itself to ensure top level safety and zero cross-contamination possibility.
I love serving families during such a special time, and making the process extremely easy. What I do really feels like an honor. I always feel grateful to walk on sacred birth grounds.
The research continues in the medical community to prove the benefits of the placenta and that education & knowledge is spreading.

The number 1 reason moms hire me is because they want to avoid symptoms of postpartum depression.

Why would I encapsulate my placenta?

After birth, all women are at risk because the loss of iron, hormones, & nutrients are directly associated with Postpartum Depression.
Iron deficiency and fatigue on any level are debilitating.

The placenta is full of bioavailable iron, nutrients, hormones, & more!
Research shows that therapy from nutrients in the placenta, it is possible to have:
After birth pain relief
Plentiful milk production
Faster healing
Increased energy
Reduced postnatal bleeding
Improved mother-baby bonding
Improved brain function
A balanced feeling of overall wellness
An easier transition for mother and baby with less stress
Improved mood and emotions throughout postpartum
Improvements in fitness ability, endurance capacity, and work efficiency

I just finished the book “The War of Art” by Steven Pressfield and it was a great kick in the pants for getting some of my ideas out of my head and into reality.
