Jessica Layne of South Austin on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Jessica Layne and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Jessica, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I naturally wake up before sunrise, and I’ve created a peaceful ritual that I absolutely love. The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is make a cup of French press coffee. I use a European hand grinder and whole beans from Stumptown. I measure out the beans and the water by the gram using a baker’s scale. This process is like my morning meditation. Then I sit on my balcony with my cup and listen to the birds. As soon as I finish my first cup of coffee, I put on my sneakers and go for an hour-long walk in my neighborhood. I sit with the trees, feel the breeze on my face, and watch the ravens up above. A flock of ravens have been tracking me since September 2024. They are gorgeous and ever watchful. They’re my sentinels and messengers.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a psychic copywriter and energetic advisor. Right now, I work in the marketing industry, and I ghostwrite (aka copywrite) for B2B, B2C, and DTC companies.

I’ve been a professional copywriter since 2012, and it’s one of my favorite careers because it allows me to channel the unseen realms and create emotionally resonant language for businesses. It’s how I bridge the gap between the spiritual realm and business.

I also read energy. Energy does not lie. So when I say I’m an energetic advisor, what I mean is that I can read the energy of a business, team, operations, and brand voice, and I can identify misalignments. Then, I work to realign those areas at the energetic level. It’s the most sustainable way to future-proof a business.

I’ve got three IPs (intellectual property) for this process. They are as follows: The Galactic Brand Voice Audit, Energetic Operations Consulting, and Systemic Harmonization.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Everything is energy. Again, I read energy like my native language, and it doesn’t lie. When people are no longer an energetic match, meaning there is a frequency misalignment, the bond between them breaks.

That’s a natural conclusion.

Some people are only meant to be in our lives for a season. I can honor that and let those relationships go.

I’m not interested in restoring broken bonds with other people. They broke for a reason.

Sometimes bonds can be restored if both parties do the inner work (on their own) and then their matching frequencies bring them back together. That’s beautiful. That’s on growth. But in my experience, that is also very rare.

What’s for me will naturally find its way to me without force.

This might sound cold to some people, and that’s okay. I call it healthy detachment. I live very differently. The most important relationship I have is with myself. I’m on a path of growth and ascension. And that means, relationships that cannot keep up with my pace will naturally see themselves out.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Trigger warning: I grew up in a chaotic home with an abusive family. I kept quiet about it for decades. I thought all that fawning and silence would keep me safer. I didn’t know I could choose myself until I did.

One day in 2017, I just couldn’t take it anymore. So I moved and cut ties with the people who hurt me. One by one, I hit the block button. I got a wonderful therapist and changed my phone number.

Once I separated myself from my biological family, my new community came rushing in immediately. I built a new family, the non-traditional kind. The kind that helps me when I ask, the kind that does not judge me, the kind I always wanted but didn’t think was possible.

My biological family kicked me out long before I closed the door behind me. Once I found my voice and started advocating for myself, everything changed.

My voice is my power.
My throat chakra is my power.

As a messenger, life path number 33, and psychic, I’m meant to use my voice to raise the collective consciousness.
I’m meant to use my experience and what I’ve learned to help others transition into higher timelines.
That’s how I use my power for the greatest good.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
I work in marketing, and right now, I see a lot of people in the industry toning down their authenticity, personality, and voice.

They do this because they think it’s the only way for them to get clients and make money.

Becoming the most boring person in the room does not make you safe. It makes you miserable.

I see people with muted personas hiding their natural gifts because they think that’s the only way to secure paying clients or work. And maybe it works in the short-term. But that’s a loop that I’ve moved beyond.

I’m not here to tell other people how to live their lives. I understand that sometimes you have to do what you can to stay afloat and employed. I get it. I’m not disrespecting people for how they survive and make money.

What I’m saying is, I have learned that wearing a mask and pretending to be someone I’m not causes anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic pain, extreme stress, insomnia, and just an all-around sick feeling. I personally would like to avoid that.

When you dilute yourself, your brand, or act fake, you attract that same energy. My spirit guides told me they don’t want me to act fake because that would attract the same kind of people who hurt me.

The truth: Authenticity attracts authenticity.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m in the water.

I’m a cardinal water sign. The mother of my soul is the Orisha, Yemoja. (Also spelled Yemaya)

She’s known as the mother of the ocean. I’ve lived past lives in the ocean as a fish, whale, dolphin, and mermaid.

I don’t visit the ocean as much as I would like, but I take a lot of Epsom salt baths and spend a fair amount of time in the pool.
