Legion D. Wise of North Austin on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Legion D. Wise and have shared our conversation below.

Legion, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity for sure. Intelligence and energy can be cultivated but often integrity is something deeply ingrained in a person. Without it to me the other two are meaningless.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Well, first off I go by the name Legion D. Wise. I’m the owner and founder of a company called NightTide Multimedia formally known as Against the grain Entertainment(Austin,Tx). We specialize in music production, photography, videography, and graphic design. I started the company in 2011 with next to nothing and slowly built. I wanted to create a situation for people like myself who didn’t have the money or resources to cultivate their creativity and were overlooked by the mainstream. Recently I released my 3rd solo album April 20th 2025 titled Thr33 Thirty Thr33 that’s currently on all platforms available for streaming and to purchase.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I first listened to the rapper Scarface and the group Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. In particular the song “I seen a man die” and the album E. 1999. I definitely have other musical influences, but when I heard them, that’s when I knew what I wanted to do with my life. That’s when I knew I wanted to make music. To try to create something that touched other people they way their music touched me.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Not to hate yourself for where you came from, what you had or didn’t have and what people did to you. You are worth something same as anyone else. You have the right to exist, live and be happy same as anyone else.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That the only thing that matters is fame and money. That creativity and talent are not as important as the amount of followers you have and the amount of money you make.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
That we all have the capacity to find peace within ourselves. I believe the meaning of life is to simply live and do what makes you happy. In the world we live in a lot of times it’s not that simple or easy to do, but I think our actions create ripples through life like a pebble being thrown into a pond that touch others in ways we may not always see or get appreciation for. If you can affect someone’s life in a positive way, that’s what we are really here for and what matters most. I’ve made many mistakes and it took me many years to realize this.
