We’re looking forward to introducing you to Chad Adams. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Chad, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve recently become a parent and I spend every moment away from my desk hanging out with my rambunctious two-year-old.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Photography has been a part of my life since my middle school years. When I decided to build a business around that passion, it was a huge turning point. I’ve explored many photography disciplines over the years and have really honed my craft into a small handful of specialties that really let me shine in my creativity and vision.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
The first time I felt confident in saying ‘no’ to a potential client with whom I realized I did not want to work. This was particularly difficult in my first few years of business, but it has become freeing to know I don’t need the projects I don’t want.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
My greatest fear is suddenly finding myself either too old to work and not ready for retirement or injured and unable to earn a living. As incredible as my family is, we didn’t have much growing up. So the possibility of insecurity is always in the back of my mind as I work toward the future.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
We’re suffering from a decline in altruism. Too many people, smart or dumb, are worried too much about themselves and not enough about their neighbors. We need more good for good’s sake in the world.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If immortality were real, what would you build?
A castle!!!
