Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Jackie Marquez of North Austin

Jackie Marquez shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Jackie, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Life these days looks very different, my world has truly done a 360. To be honest, every day feels a little different. I was recently blessed with a beautiful baby girl, and life as a mom can definitely be chaotic at times. As she grows, I’ve come to see how constant change really is. Right now, my “normal” day doesn’t always have a set routine, but it’s filled with learning, adjusting, and doing my best to find balance along the way. One of the biggest challenges has been finding that balance between caring for her and still nurturing my own creativity and self-care. Some days it feels like a struggle to stay motivated and carve out that space for myself, but it’s something I’m learning to prioritize little by little.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jackie, a multidimensional creative and artist. My work flows across many mediums, but at its heart it’s about transformation, connection, and honoring the unseen threads that tie us together. I’m also one of the founders of Cosmik Alchemy Collective, a space rooted in creativity, community, and healing. Through the collective, we create offerings and experiences that invite people to explore their inner worlds, embrace transformation, and tap into their own magic.

As an artist, I love working with themes of ritual, nature, and personal evolution. Whether that’s through visual art, writing, or intentional creative spaces. What makes my work unique is that it weaves together spirituality and creativity, allowing both myself and others to use art as a path of self-discovery and empowerment. Right now, I’m continuing to grow Cosmik Alchemy Collective, while deepening my own artistic practice and exploring new ways to bring this work into the community.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Truthfully, I don’t think I ever really felt powerful until recently after the birth of my daughter. I chose to have a natural birth, and when I told people, many thought I was crazy or that I’d regret it once the contractions hit. I’ll admit, I started to second guess myself and was terrified going into it. But I decided to trust my choice and see it through.

The labor was long, intense, and honestly the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced. There were moments I felt like giving up, but with the support of my husband and birth team, I kept going. When it was all over, the feeling was indescribable, like I had stepped into another state of consciousness. It was raw, primal, and deeply empowering. For the first time, I truly felt powerful.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain and began transforming it into power the year I turned 30. That season of my life marked the start of a deep spiritual awakening. I began to be aware of my triggers, tracing them back to their roots, and instead of resisting my emotions, I chose to sit with them. In allowing myself to fully feel my emotions and honor my wounds without judgment, I discovered compassion for myself. That practice of surrender and acceptance became a path to healing, and in that healing, I found a profound sense of purpose.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends would say that what really matters to me is transformation, helping myself and others embrace our deep, ever-changing nature. They know I believe in the power of turning pain, shadows, and trauma into wisdom and resilience. I value the process of letting go, honoring endings, and finding beauty even in the darkness, because those moments open the door to renewal. Like the phoenix, I believe in rising through the ashes, shedding what no longer serves so that new life and new opportunities can emerge.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What light inside you have you been dimming?
Lately, I’ve caught myself comparing my journey to others and downplaying my achievements. Before becoming a mom, I was building my business, traveling, and had a lot going for me. Pregnancy changed everything. I had to pause, reset, and step into a completely new chapter. Motherhood has been beautiful but also deeply challenging, and for a while I felt like I was just surviving, watching others move forward while I stood still.

But through those feelings, I realized that I’m not behind. I’m on a different path. My daughter sees me as her whole world, and that in itself is powerful. The light I want to stop dimming is my resilience, my ability to rebuild, and the beauty of being able to guide and inspire the next generation through my own journey.
