We’re looking forward to introducing you to Melissa Trajano. Check out our conversation below.
Melissa, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, joy for me has been found in the little things—planning new travels, reading a great mystery, enjoying fresh flowers, and spending time outdoors around Austin. Those simple moments make me happiest.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Melissa, and I split my time between my role in property management at RPM Living and my creative side hustle, Bluebonnet & Brie. What started as a love for food and gatherings has grown into a brand where I get to design charcuterie boards that bring joy to people’s celebrations. I think what makes my story unique is that I love finding joy in different corners of life—whether that’s creating something beautiful, traveling, diving into a new fitness goal, or getting involved with Austin’s community. Right now, I’m excited about growing both in my career and my creative passions while staying true to what inspires me.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mom has always seen me clearly before I could see myself. She recognized my strength, resilience, and creativity long before I trusted those qualities in myself. She’s been the one to remind me of my worth during challenging seasons and to celebrate my wins, big or small. Having someone who truly sees you, even when you’re still figuring it out for yourself, is such a gift—and I’m grateful that she’s been that mirror for me throughout my life.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of failure has held me back the most. For a long time, I worried about not getting things ‘perfect,’ which sometimes stopped me from taking risks. I’ve learned that growth happens outside of comfort zones, and mistakes are just part of the process.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is very much the real me. I try to lead with authenticity in everything I do, whether in my career, creative projects, or personal life. What you see is what you get—but like anyone, I’m still a work in progress, always growing and learning.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
I’d regret not traveling more and truly experiencing the world, as well as not spending enough time with the people I love. Life moves fast, and I want to make the most of it—collecting memories, sharing adventures, laughing together, and cherishing the moments that really matter. For me, those experiences are what make life rich and meaningful.
