Life & Work with Allie Cauffman of Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allie Cauffman.

Hi Allie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
FlowStateBox started with the idea of making periods feel a little less stressful and giving women an easy way to prioritize themselves. I wanted to create something that combined everyday essentials with self-care, so we created a box filled with period products, sweet treats, face masks, and other little things that make you feel good.

As a co-founder, I’ve been involved in building the business from the ground up, from developing the product and sourcing products to building our Shopify website, managing inventory, creating social media content, and figuring out how to reach our target audience. We’ve also explored brand partnerships and collaborations to help introduce FlowStateBox to more people.

Starting a business has taught me so much about entrepreneurship, problem-solving, marketing, and the importance of being willing to learn as you go. We’re still growing, but my goal is to build FlowStateBox into a brand that makes women feel cared for and reminds them that taking care of themselves can start with small, everyday things.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but that’s been one of the biggest learning experiences of starting FlowStateBox. One of our biggest challenges has been figuring out how to get our product in front of the right audience and turn interest into actual sales while working with a limited budget. As a new brand, building trust, creating brand awareness, and finding the right marketing strategies takes a lot of trial and error.

We’ve also had to learn so many different aspects of running a business, from managing inventory and costs to building our website, creating content, and reaching out to potential brand partners. There isn’t always a clear answer, so we’ve had to be resourceful, adapt, and figure things out as we go.

Even when things are challenging, I’ve learned that building a business requires patience, consistency, and a willingness to keep trying new things. We’re still growing, but every challenge has taught me something valuable and made me more confident in my ability to problem-solve and keep moving forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a co-founder of FlowStateBox, I focus on building our brand and bringing our vision to life. I work across several areas of the business, including product sourcing, inventory management, e-commerce, social media marketing, brand partnerships, and customer experience. I love being able to combine creativity with the business side of things, from creating content that represents our brand to finding ways to reach new customers and grow our business.

What I’m most proud of is taking an idea and turning it into a real business. We’ve built FlowStateBox from the ground up, developed our product, launched our website, and started creating relationships with other brands and potential partners. It has pushed me to step outside my comfort zone and learn things I never would have experienced otherwise.

I think what sets me apart is that I’m willing to jump in and figure things out. I enjoy being creative, but I also care about the numbers, the strategy, and what it takes to make a business successful. I’m very hands-on, adaptable, and always looking for opportunities to improve. I don’t expect to know everything, but I’m willing to learn, take feedback, and put in the work to make something successful.

Ultimately, I want FlowStateBox to be more than just a box of period products. I want it to become a brand that makes women feel supported and reminds them that self-care can be simple, accessible, and part of everyday life.

What does success mean to you?
I define success as growth, both personally and professionally. To me, success isn’t just about reaching a specific goal or making money; it’s about knowing you’re putting in the work, learning from challenges, and becoming better along the way. I think success also means creating something that has a positive impact on other people, whether that’s through a business, a relationship, or the work you do every day.

With FlowStateBox, success means building a sustainable business that genuinely helps women feel supported while creating something we’re proud of. I also believe success is about consistency, resilience, and being willing to adapt when things don’t go as planned. I’m very goal-oriented, so I love seeing results, but I also value the lessons and growth that happen along the way.
