Life & Work with Courtney Krueger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Krueger.

Hi Courtney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m a brand and web designer and owner of Courtney Marie & Co., a design agency specializing in Kajabi and Showit web design. My story of how I became a web designer came full circle but started I went to college for advertising and public relations but throughout the years found a passion for health and fitness so I decided to pursue personal training as a career.

Deep down, I always felt like there was more to life than just working a 9-5 job for 30-40 years. I didn’t have a set plan but I knew I wanted to follow my passion and get paid for it. Years later, I started working at a start-up tech company to help supplement my personal training income and found a new opportunity where I could make money working from home.

I started offering virtual assistant services for Kajabi users. I had the graphic design skills, knew quite a bit about the platform and the online space so I just started asking around who needed help and how I could help them. From there, I was hooked! I found a new passion for helping business owners scale their business through web design and tech support. I decided to let go of the fitness business and went all in on this new venture.

Through word of mouth and referrals, my small side hustle quickly turned into a full-time business within 90 days and just kept growing every month. Soon after, I decided to hire help to keep up with the growth of the business and within seven months, I hit my first 6-figures. What was once a solopreneur business is now a team of 5 continuing to help entrepreneurs scale their business through branding and web design.

My biggest message for others when sharing my story is that you get to decide what you want to do and it’s okay to change your mind.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not smooth! Entrepreneurship is a rollercoaster of ups and downs but it’s so worth it to be able to build the life you want and have more freedom!

I think my biggest struggles were not having the right strategy in place and overcoming my own mindset limitations that held me back. You really have to believe in yourself especially in the beginning, do the things you don’t want to do, and be super consistent every day even on the days you don’t want to show up.

There is no clocking in and getting paid hourly or a set salary. It’s truly what you put into it. A big switch that went off for me was when I started consuming less and creating more and really putting time into the actions that brought in revenue. When you have the plan and trust in the process then it’s up to you to be consistent to put that plan into action.

Other hurdles I had to overcome was comparison and perfectionism. It’s easy to compare yourself to others in the same space and be hard on yourself but I realized that if I put my blinders on and do the work, I would get there on my own timeline and that’s all that matters. You have to be your own hypeman or hypewoman and surround yourself with a community who will support you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are a design agency helping female entrepreneurs increase their revenue and scale their online business through branding and web design. Our specialty is Kajabi and Showit web design.

My favorite part about what I do is designing an amazing website that not only looks good but also helps our clients get results to grow their business.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I think just a reminder that our health is so vital to our everyday lives and to focus on the things that truly matter in life and don’t sweat the small things.
