Life & Work with Frank Felix of Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank Felix.

Hi Frank, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When people see me acting on a film set or releasing music today. They usually see someone who’s energetic, outgoing, and passionate about what they do. What they don’t always see is the journey it took to become that person.

I grew up in a loving and supportive family that always encouraged creativity. I knew music as a a joy for as long as I could remember. From chaotic karaoke moments in a random corner of the house to learning how to produce my own tracks in a diy home studio setup. My parents enrolled me in acting classes when i was young and looking back, that decision completely changed my life. At the time, I didn’t realize I was discovering two passions that would shape my future: acting and music.

Growing up wasn’t always easy. I was bullied at school and often felt different from the people around me. I wasn’t someone who naturally fit into a particular friend group. Therefore led to many moments where I’ve felt isolated. I did have friends who cared about me, and I’m grateful (always) but I still carried the feeling that I didn’t quite belong. For a long time, I questioned why I felt so different.

As I got older, I realized that what I once viewed as my biggest weakness eventually became one of my greatest strengths. Being different wasn’t something I needed to fix—it was something I needed to embrace. That realization changed my life.

Like many people, I’ve also experienced anxiety and depression. Those experiences taught me that mental health isn’t something we should ignore or hide. Healing isn’t a straight line, and learning to understand myself took time. There were moments when I wasn’t confident, when I didn’t know who I was, what I wanted to do, or whether I was enough. Looking back now, those difficult seasons helped shape the person I’ve become. They taught me resilience, empathy, and the importance of showing myself the same kindness I believe we should all try to show others.

One of the biggest turning points came through acting. Walking into improv classes challenged me to step outside my comfort zone. Little by little, I found my voice. The shy kid who once worried about being judged slowly became someone who loved performing in front of people. I fell in love with every part of filmmaking—not just being in front of the camera, but collaborating with talented crews, building friendships on set, watching stories come to life, and experiencing the incredible teamwork that goes into every production. Whether it’s an overnight shoot or a full day on set, I genuinely love the process.

Music has been just as important in my journey. I sang in choir throughout elementary school-middle school- high school, and now! but eventually I realized I wanted to tell my own stories. Songwriting became another way to express emotions that were sometimes difficult to put into conversation. Creating music gave me confidence and helped me better understand myself.

Today, I write songs that I hope people can connect with in whatever season of life they’re in. Whether someone needs motivation, encouragement, comfort, or simply a reason to smile or make whatever face they want. I want my music to remind them they’re not alone. I believe music is one of the few things that truly connects every person, no matter where they come from. It’s a universal language that brings people together.

I’m also passionate about mental health because I know firsthand how important it is. If sharing my experiences helps even one person feel understood or encourages someone to ask for help, then being vulnerable is worth it. None of us should feel like we have to carry those struggles by ourselves.

Outside of entertainment, I care deeply about protecting our planet. I love spending time in nature, and it reminds me how important it is to take care of the world we all share. Whether it’s recycling, avoiding littering, or simply appreciating the outdoors, I believe small actions can make a meaningful difference.

I’m also proud to be a gay man. That pride has strengthened my belief that everyone deserves the freedom to be themselves without fear or judgment. I believe every person has something unique to offer the world, and our differences are what make humanity beautiful. No one should feel like they have to hide who they are in order to be accepted.

Being the crazed creative I am, I’ve launched a sunglass brand called “Frank Frames”. Where I make one of a kind hand painted sunglasses that can give anyone the “it factor look”. I continue to make new one of a kind styles and you can shop my debut launch DROP001 the “Star Power” shades on the site now.
you can find it by @frankfelixframes on instagram ( Shopify link in bio ).

If there’s one message I hope people take away from my story, it’s this: don’t let other people’s opinions decide your future. The qualities people once criticized in me are now the same qualities that fuel my creativity and my career. The things that made me feel different became the things that made me who I am.

Everything I create—whether it’s a film, a song,

(My newest single and Summer track “Star Power”) coming out July 17th 2026!

or simply sharing my story—is rooted in the hope that someone else will feel seen. I want people to know it’s okay to be different. It’s okay to take your own path. Healing is possible. Growth is possible. Your voice matters, your story matters, and the most powerful thing you can be is your authentic self.

I’m still at the beginning of my journey as an actor and recording artist, but every step has taught me that success isn’t just about accomplishments. It’s about using your platform to encourage others, creating art that brings people together, and leaving people with a little more hope than they had before they found your work.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
absolutely not! If everything was smooth sailing than I would wouldn’t where I am today. I’ve faced so much rejection , so much scrutiny and have had so many people doubt me / tell me I’m not able what I’m doing today. Questions around, Is this what I really want? but as I keep-on and stay true to who I am everyday that’s all I can control.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a people person! Believe it or not. Also a huge proud nerd in all things crystals and anything history, which are topics of never ending learning lessons. I will never steer away from who I am or be afraid to express myself first. I love what I like doing, my style, and believe in being unapologetically me without having to apologize. Even if that means being looked at under a spectacle.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Effort, I think effort is inevitably something that has always going to be required at any goal that wants to be met. I’m a firm believer in consistency and I think with consistency comes results if you’re consistent, kind, hardworking and grateful. These combination of things should bring anyone success in whatever field that they’re trying to thrive in.
