Today we’d like to introduce you to Honey Ant.
Hi Honey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
While living in Austin in 2020 during the pandemic, I began writing music in my free time. I put out my first project in 2021 and I’ve been releasing since then! Now I’ve moved to LA where I’m pursuing to be a songwriter and artist.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Certainly not. After my first 2 releases I realized how different it is to be an Artist than it is to be a Songwriter. I’m now learning and focused on how to build my “world” as an Artist.

I’m an artist and songwriter. My latest project, Discourse Vol. I, is very politically charged. It’s very strange to be living in such a politically turbulent world and most of our popular music doesn’t talk about that! Music should be a reflection of what you’re experiencing in the world.
Named after Aimé Césaire’s 1950 essay Discourse on Colonialism, Discourse Vol. I takes Césaire’s core argument, that the violence exported by empires eventually returns home, and translates it into sound. It’s music that makes you feel angry but also gets you to think critically.
I think the sound is modern and genreless, pulling from hip-hop’s rhythmic confrontation, the propulsive urgency of dance music, the accessibility of pop, and the grit of rock — glued together by a punk energy.
