Today we’d like to introduce you to James Haddox.
Hi james, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Danielle and I both came from small business backgrounds before getting into real estate, so we’ve always had a mindset centered around relationships, communication, and taking care of people. We’ve lived in the Austin area for more than 30 years, so we’ve watched the area grow and change from a much smaller community into what it is today.
Real estate felt like a natural fit because it gave us an opportunity to combine our love for people with problem-solving and guidance during major life moments. Buying or selling a home isn’t just a transaction for most people. It’s often tied to a big life change.
We started the Haddox Home Team with the goal of creating an experience that feels more personal and less transactional. We wanted people to feel like they had real people in their corner, not just agents opening doors or putting signs in yards. We try to be a calm, steady resource through the process and focus on honest communication and guidance.
Today we work with buyers, sellers, homeowners, and families throughout the Austin area and surrounding communities. We’re still growing and learning every day, but at the core our mission has stayed the same: treat people well, communicate clearly, and help guide them through one of the biggest decisions of their lives.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Danielle and I would definitely say it has not been a perfectly smooth road. Real estate can be rewarding, but it can also be unpredictable. One of the biggest challenges is that people often only see the closings and the happy moments. They do not see the long hours, the weekends, the marketing efforts, the deals that fall apart, or the months where things feel slower than expected.
We have also learned that building a business takes a lot of patience. There is a learning curve, and sometimes you spend a lot of time and energy on things that do not produce the results you hoped for. We have had to adjust strategies, rethink ideas, and stay flexible as markets change.
One challenge that stands out is learning not to take every setback personally. In this business, not every lead becomes a client, not every contract makes it to the closing table, and not every idea works. We have learned to look at challenges as feedback rather than failure.
At the same time, those experiences have probably shaped us the most. They have made us more patient, more adaptable, and more appreciative of the people who trust us during important moments in their lives.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Danielle and I have always been creative people, and that creativity tends to show up in both our personal lives and our business. Real estate is often viewed as contracts, numbers, and transactions, but creativity plays a much bigger role than people might expect.
One example is a music video we created for our business and community. It was definitely outside the traditional real estate marketing box, but that was the point. We wanted to make something fun, personal, and memorable that felt more like us than a polished sales script.

Danielle also has a very creative side outside of real estate. She designs nature-inspired art pieces using preserved moss, plants, and mixed materials, and some of those pieces have been installed in local businesses around town. Her work brings together natural elements, texture, and design in a way that feels calming and unique.
That creative approach has become part of how we do business too. Whether we are marketing a home, creating content, designing visuals, or connecting with people in the community, we try not to take a cookie-cutter approach. We want the work we create, and the way people experience us, to feel genuine and memorable.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Danielle and I definitely did not build this alone. We have been fortunate to have support from a lot of different people along the way.
Our families have played a huge role by encouraging us, believing in us, and supporting us through the ups and downs that come with building a business. Starting and growing something of your own can be exciting, but it can also come with uncertainty, long hours, and stressful moments, so having people around you who continue to believe in you matters more than most people realize.
We have also learned a lot from other agents, brokers, business owners, and professionals who have shared advice and experiences over the years. Sometimes it was formal guidance and sometimes it was simply conversations that helped us avoid mistakes or see things from a different perspective.
Most importantly, our clients deserve a tremendous amount of credit. Every person who trusted us to help them buy, sell, or lease a home gave us an opportunity to grow. People are making very personal and important decisions when they invite us into that process, and that trust means a lot to us. Many of our clients have become repeat clients, referrals, and friends, which is probably one of the things we are most grateful for.
