Life & Work with Kelly Hall of Austin tx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Hall

Hi Kelly , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Kelly Hall, and I grew up in Oklahoma City. My journey into starting my nonprofit, Homeless Military Veterans, began with a deeply personal experience. My father, a homeless veteran, struggled to get the help he needed from the Veterans Association. Frustrated by the system’s shortcomings, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I founded Homeless Military Veterans with the goal of providing support and resources to those who served our country but are left without the help they deserve. What started as a mission to help my father has grown into a dedicated organization that now serves countless veterans in need. It’s been a challenging but incredibly rewarding path, and I’m committed to making sure no veteran has to go through what my father did.we get RVs and campers donated to help house veterans in need

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Obstacles/Challenges
Has it been a difficult journey? Absolutely. One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced has been trying to get help and support from the community. Despite reaching out to the city multiple times, we’ve often been met with resistance or indifference. It feels like if you’re not part of a certain group or “in the know,” your needs are overlooked and ignored. This lack of support has made it even harder to move forward and make a real impact.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I own a booting company called Capital City Parking Enforcement. What sets us apart is our commitment to giving back by hiring veterans who are often overlooked by other employers. Many of these veterans are in need of stable jobs, but too often, they’re forgotten or ignored. I take great pride in offering them a second chance and providing meaningful employment opportunities. It’s one of the things that I’m most proud of—knowing that we’re making a difference in the lives of those who have served our country and need support now more than ever.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
When it comes to finding a mentor or networking, my advice is to focus on building genuine, authentic relationships. Don’t just seek out people for what they can do for you; instead, look for those who share your values and who are genuinely interested in helping others grow. Start by attending local events, joining industry groups, or even volunteering your time. You’ll be surprised how much people appreciate seeing others who are willing to give back.

For me, what has worked well is being consistent and persistent. I’ve always made an effort to stay in touch with people, ask questions, and offer help where I can. Networking isn’t just about taking; it’s about giving as well. Over time, this approach has led to valuable connections, mentorship opportunities, and lasting professional relationships.
