Life & Work with Lauren Galinsky

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Galinsky.

Hi Lauren, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m sort of a late-in-life artist even though I’ve always been interested since I was little. Art and I have gone through many highs and lows. I’ve always loved drawing but only gravitated to painting when I started working on pet portraits. The first one I did was a memorial piece for a friend whose dog passed away. She was so touched and it felt really special to be a part of providing a little comfort to someone going through grief. Since then, I’ve worked on many different kinds of commissions. I really enjoy learning about all of the reasons why these pets are so special. It’s very rewarding and enjoyable!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I struggled for most of my life, wanting to make a career out of my art talents but never having the energy or motivation to pursue anything. I’m not quite there yet, but I finally have the momentum to be closer than ever before to my goals.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m mostly known for my pet portraits which are graphic in quality but still highly detailed. I also recently launched my miniature portrait offering which are adorable 3 x 4 paintings.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Summer camps were always a highlight. I particularly enjoyed arts and crafts. It felt good to be able to create something!
