Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Pagel.
Hi maggie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
oh gosh . . . bought a donut shop, three years ago. It’s been a HUGE learning curve. I was an artist and school teacher before all this. We have turned this run down shop into a local hit and tourist destination. Breakfast is hot made to order on the black top. coffee is the best in town! And the donuts. . . oh my goodness. Since I was a child donuts have spoken to me. You know if you know. That light airy fried dough means more to a lot of us. I’m one of them.
So since being an artist and owning a pillow shop where I hand painted canvases and then stitched them up with pompom trim, now I decorate and design custom donuts and sprinkle them up!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Everyday the boogie monster arrives in some form when you own a small business. Equipment, employees, shall I say more? Every morning at 2:30 am when my alarm goes off is a struggle. . . “gotta go make the donuts. . .”
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an artist! I used to have a hand painted pillow business called MaggieNMe and now the donut shop is much like that. Except each $100 pillow is now a $1.50 donut. Every donut is a piece of artwork!
