Today we’d like to introduce you to Robbi Gallagher.
Hi Robbi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story started with creativity always being part of my life, even before I fully knew what form it would take. Growing up, I was encouraged to stay involved in school while also having creative outlets, like band in middle school and high school. That foundation taught me discipline, collaboration, and the importance of expressing myself.
Professionally, I started my creative journey as a makeup artist in Los Angeles. I loved being part of the transformation process and helping people feel confident, but eventually I hit a career plateau where I knew I was being called to grow in a different direction. During that season, my friends Maddie McNeil and Emily Eyman, who are both choreographers, really encouraged me to keep pushing my art and to create beyond one lane. Their support helped me step more intentionally into directing, photography, and visual storytelling.
That evolution eventually became Gallagher Productions. What started as a creative outlet grew into a brand focused on photography, media, fashion, events, and production. My background in makeup, movement, fashion, and storytelling all shaped the way I see people through the lens. I do not just want to take a beautiful photo; I want to capture energy, identity, and the story behind the moment.
A major part of my journey has also been fashion production. Through my mentor Saige Thomas, Co-Founder and President of Texas Fashion Industry Initiative, I was introduced to the dapperQ team in 2024 while working as her assistant. That opportunity helped open the door for me to work in New York Fashion Week spaces, and I am now going into my third year working with dapperQ, the largest LGBTQ+ runway show during NYFW.
Today, I am focused on continuing to grow Gallagher Productions into more fashion, editorial, and live event spaces while staying rooted in community, authenticity, and bold creative expression. My path has not been completely linear, but every chapter has taught me something that I now bring into my work.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely has not been a completely smooth road. Since starting Gallagher Productions, I have been building my business while also reaching major personal and educational milestones. In that time, I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, completed my Master of Science in Business, and am starting my last semester of my Paralegal certification. Each of these accomplishments requires a lot of focus and discipline, but trying to balance them while growing a creative business came with real challenges.
One of the biggest struggles was deciding to fully shift my focus to Gallagher Productions and make it my full-time job in May of last year. That transition was exciting, but also scary. It meant learning how to trust myself not just as an artist, but as a business owner. I had to figure out how to manage clients, bookings, deadlines, finances, editing, marketing, and the day-to-day responsibilities of building a brand, all while finishing my Master’s program.
There were definitely moments where I felt stretched thin. I was trying to show up professionally for clients, continue developing my craft, and still meet the expectations of my education. But those struggles taught me a lot about discipline, time management, and resilience. They also reminded me that Gallagher Productions is not just something I enjoy doing; it is something I am willing to work hard for.
Looking back, I am proud of the fact that I did not wait for life to feel perfectly easy before I pursued my business seriously. I kept building while I was still learning, still graduating, and still figuring things out. That season showed me that growth is not always comfortable, but it is always worth it when you are aligned with your purpose.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Gallagher Productions is a photography, media, and visual storytelling brand rooted in fashion, events, portraits, and creative production. I specialize in capturing people in a way that feels intentional, elevated, and authentic. Whether I am photographing a runway show, an event, a portrait session, or working behind the scenes in production, my goal is always to document the energy of the moment while helping people feel seen and confident.
I am becoming known for bringing a fashion-forward eye into different spaces. My background as a makeup artist, photographer, director, and producer allows me to understand the full creative picture. I look at lighting, movement, styling, emotion, composition, and the overall story being told. Because of that, my work is not just about taking a photo; it is about creating an experience and preserving a moment with intention.
I am most proud of the way Gallagher Productions has grown from a creative outlet into a full-time business. I am also proud of the opportunities I have had to work in fashion production, including being part of the dapperQ production team during New York Fashion Week. Being able to contribute to spaces that celebrate identity, artistry, and community means so much to me, especially when the work is connected to queer fashion and representation.
What sets me apart is that I bring both creativity and structure to everything I do. I have the artistic background to see the vision, but I also have the business and legal education to understand professionalism, organization, client experience, and long-term brand building. I care deeply about the details, the people, and the purpose behind the work. At the heart of Gallagher Productions, I want people to feel like they are not just being photographed; they are being understood, celebrated, and documented in their fullest light.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about New York City is the energy. There is a constant sense that something is always happening and that you are surrounded by people who are chasing something bigger than themselves. For me, New York has been such an important place creatively because of fashion, art, culture, and the way the city pushes you to rise to the occasion. Being able to work in NYFW spaces has shown me how powerful it is to be in a city where creativity is everywhere and where people are not afraid to take up space.
At the same time, my heart will always be connected to my hometown, San Antonio, Texas. What I love most about San Antonio is the sense of community, culture, and warmth. It is a city that has shaped so much of who I am. There is pride here, history here, and a creative community that continues to grow. San Antonio has given me roots, while New York has given me momentum. I feel lucky to be influenced by both.
What I like least is that both cities come with their own challenges. New York can be overwhelming, expensive, and fast-paced in a way that can make it hard to slow down and breathe. San Antonio, on the other hand, is growing creatively, but I would love to see even more investment, visibility, and opportunity for local artists, fashion creatives, and production professionals. There is so much talent here, and I think the city is still learning how to fully support and spotlight it.
