Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenton Prosise.
Hi Brenton, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Brenton Prosise, and I am a 19 year old photographer and entrepreneur. I am the owner of One Way Photography and am currently building my own photography studio.
My journey began when I was 16 years old. One day, I picked up a camera that my grandmother had lying around and started taking photos. Not long after, someone offered me $300 to photograph a birthday party. That opportunity changed everything. It was the first time I realized photography could be more than just a hobby, and it inspired me to start my own business, One Way Photography. Building a business at such a young age was not easy. At 16, I was working a full-time job while trying to establish myself as a photographer.
On my days off, I photographed quinceañeras, weddings, and other events, doing everything I could to grow my portfolio and get my name out into the community. There were many long days, sacrifices, and moments of uncertainty as I tried to figure out my future.
When I was 19, I lost my job. Living on my own, I suddenly found myself facing an uncertain situation. All I really had was my camera, the portfolio I had spent three years building, and the clients who believed in my work. Instead of giving up, I decided to take a leap of faith and pursue photography full time.
That decision has led me to where I am today. Through hard work, dedication, and the support of my clients, I have been able to grow my business and begin building my own photography studio. Looking back, I never imagined that the 16 year old kid with a borrowed camera would be in this position today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles was balancing a full-time job while trying to grow my photography business at 16. Because I was so young, some people thought it was strange that a teenager was photographing weddings and large events, and not everyone took me seriously or respected me as a professional. Later, losing my job at 19 forced me to take a leap of faith and pursue photography full-time. Despite the challenges, each obstacle helped me grow both as a photographer and as a business owner.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
One Way Photography is a photography business focused on capturing some of life’s most important moments. We specialize in weddings, quinceañeras, portraits, and special events, while also offering studio photography. My goal has always been to provide high-quality images that tell a story and create lasting memories for my clients.
What sets One Way Photography apart is the personal connection I build with every client. I understand that every event is unique, so I take the time to get to know my clients and make sure their vision comes to life. As a young business owner, I bring a lot of passion, creativity, and dedication to every session and event I photograph. One thing I’m most proud of is how far the brand has come. What started with a camera my grandmother had laying around has grown into a successful business with a loyal client base and my own photography studio. Every booking, referral, and returning client is something I am grateful for.
I want readers to know that One Way Photography is more than just taking pictures-it’s about preserving memories that families can look back on for generations. My mission is to provide an experience where clients feel comfortable, valued, and confident that their special moments are being captured with care and professionalism.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My biggest supporters and the people who deserve the most credit are my grandma and grandpa. They have been my number one supporters since I first started photography. From the very beginning, they encouraged me, believed in me, and helped me in ways that made it possible for me to keep building my business.
They’ve supported me not just emotionally, but also in practical ways that helped me get through different stages of growing my photography work. A lot of where I am today wouldn’t have been possible without their guidance, encouragement, and support along the way.
Honestly, without them, I don’t think I would be where I am right now. They played a huge role in shaping my journey and continuing to push me forward when things were difficult.
