Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Bolden.
Cody, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Cody’s appreciation for the playing country music emerged nearly a decade ago, when he saw live country music performed at a new small room listening in Woodstock, Georgia. He began playing the acoustic guitar in 2017 and established his band, Cody Bolden and the Roadhands, in 2018. Simultaneously, Cody was helping to run Pie Bar, the bakery he and his wife, Lauren, opened in 2015 after she found success selling her pies at local farmers markets.
The band released their first full-length album, Roadhand, in 2021. Titles include Lost the Top, Screendoor, and Coming Back Home: songs about drinking, leaving, and returning home again, respectively. Roadhand led Cody Bolden to festival stages across the Southeast, including The Tennessee Music and Motorcycle Revival in Nashville, Tennessee, and as a Rising Stars at Floyd Fest in Floyd, Virginia.
Starting in 2023, Cody and his band began traveling to Texas twice a year, March and October, to play country music. They loved the culture built around classic Texas dancehalls and it inspired them to work to get better.
The Roadhands second full-length album, Keep on Working, was released in 2023. Titles include Whiskey Blues, Bad Man, and Keep on Working: songs about honky tonking, ghosts, and perseverance. Keep on Working expanded Cody Bolden’s reach and opened the door to extended touring opportunities throughout Texas and the Southeast.
Playing music while operating Pie Bar became a challenge for Bolden, especially with the addition of the couple’s 3-year-old and 1-year-old children. Following the unexpected passing of his father, Bolden decided it was time to make a change. The Boldens sold Pie Bar and Cody focused on writing and playing music full time.
Menace To Myself is the band’s third album and set for release on October 2nd, 2026. Proudly created in Georgia, Menace to Myself reflects Bolden’s Southern roots and his belief that Atlanta is helping shape a distinct voice within modern country music.
Inspired the vibrant country music community around Austin and other parts of Texas, Cody hosts a monthly Original Country Music Show, Roadhand Roundup, at 529 in the East Atlanta Village. Each month, the series highlights songwriters and performers carrying forward the traditions of country, honky-tonk, Americana, and roots music while contributing to a growing creative community in Atlanta.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Finding time to follow your passion is always a challenge. When you add in owning your own business and then having two kids, things can get even more hectic. Fortunately, I’ve been able to prioritize music which has allowed me to focus on writing and playing live more. The more I play out with my band, the more I love when I am getting to do.

Originally from Lineville, Alabama, and now based in Canton, Georgia, I have worked to build a reputation for writing character-driven songs that blur the lines between Americana, country, folk, and Southern rock. Rather than offering easy answers, our newest album, Menace To Myself invites listeners into the lives of imperfect people searching for meaning, forgiveness, and connection.
