Meet Dania Hunter of Infusion Dance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dania Hunter.

Hi Dania, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I moved from Mexico to the United States when I was 15 brining with me my culture, my love of dance, and the determination to build a meaningful life here. Over the years, education and dance became two of the ways I could serve my community. I became a teacher, and eventually I turned my passion for dance into Infusion Dance in Pflugerville.

As the studio grew, I wanted it to be about more than learning steps. I wanted dancers to build confidence, perseverance, and compassion with an understanding that Infusion Dance it’s not just about dancing and competitions, but more importantly, it is about a community of amazing human beings. That vision also led me to help start the Movement & Dance Foundation, which supports dancers and creates opportunities through scholarships and character development programs focusing on giving back to our community.

Today, I’m grateful to be an educator, studio owner, nonprofit founder, and community advocate. I’m proud of how far the journey has brought me, and excited to keep creating opportunities for the next generation.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road.

Moving from Mexico to the United States at 15 meant leaving my family and friends behind, learning a new language, and adapting to a different culture while being proud and honoring my own. Those experiences shaped my resilience and deepened my pride in my heritage.

As an immigrant, I also struggled to attend college and obtain an education due to limited resources in my family and the access to education for non-residents. I could not obtain any goverment help and had to rely on private scholarship money available by generous private donors who believed in my passion, potential and desire to help my community.

As an adult, I became an educator and opened up Infusion Dance. As Infusion Dance grew, I had to learn how to balance being a teacher, a business owner, a mom, and a community leader. There have been long days, difficult decisions, and moments when I’ve had to keep going even when I wasn’t sure how everything would work out.

But those challenges have helped shape me. I’ve learned that setbacks don’t mean you’re on the wrong path. Sometimes they’re part of what helps you grow into the person you need to be.

As you know, we’re big fans of Infusion Dance . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Infusion Dance is a dance studio in Pflugerville where we help children and teens grow as dancers and as people. We offer classes for different ages and experience levels, from recreational dance to technique, performance, and competition teams, along with drill team preparation. We specialize in the following genres: acrobatics, ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop and Latin Dance. We’re also proud to support local high school dance programs and stay connected to our community.

What makes Infusion special is our belief that it’s not just about the dance. We want every student to feel welcomed, build confidence, and learn values like empathy, perseverance, integrity and community, which form the acronym EPIC. Infusion Dance gives our students a place to work hard, express themselves, form friendships, and use their talents to make a positive impact.

I’m most proud that our brand reflects that purpose. We’re known for creating a loving, supportive dance family and for helping young people become not only stronger performers, but amazing humans. That’s the heart behind everything we offer.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Taking risks is a huge factor in growing and being successful in anything you do. Getting out of your comfort zone and do what everyone else is afraid to do is what sets a person apart. Starting Infusion Dance was a major risk because I was investing my time, energy, and faith in a vision I believed could make a difference for young people. Many people, including my close family, doubted me in the beginning of my journey with Infusion Dance. Since working with kids and dancing are two of my major passions in life, I did not listen and continue following my dreams, risking everything that I had to continue with this journey. Today, Infusion Dance has become more than I expected, however, I am inspired everyday to continue working hard and making it more than what I ever dreamed. This project is no longer mine, it belongs to the plans that God has for it, which I am sure, go beyond my wildest imagination.
