Meet David Valdez of DNA Builds

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Valdez.

Hi David, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In pursuit of a career in the medical field, I earned two science degrees and began my professional journey in physical therapy. While I valued the opportunity to support patients and work alongside incredible colleagues, an unexpected opportunity in the construction industry presented itself. Despite initial hesitation and uncertainty, I embraced the challenge—and it became one of the most rewarding decisions of my life, hence the business name DNA Builds, which ties back into my background.

Stepping out of my comfort zone into an entirely new field was daunting, but the more I immersed myself in the work, the more I discovered a deep passion for the industry. I found fulfillment not only in the tangible nature of construction but also in helping clients develop and bring forth their goals and visions. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with both small and large-scale construction firms, experiences that have prepared me to now lead a business I take great pride in.

Though I didn’t grow up in a family of builders or entrepreneurs, I was raised with strong values: put God first, honor your family, make sound decisions, and always keep your word. These principles have shaped my approach to leadership and life, grounding me in gratitude, respect, and integrity.

Looking back, both the challenges and triumphs have led me to where I’m meant to be. Whether supporting clients or leading a team, I bring a clear, process-driven mindset and a commitment to follow through. While I continue to grow and learn, one thing remains constant: I always stand by my word.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t call it the smoothest road as I think everyone has their own set of struggles that go along with their journey, but I try and have a positive mind set with every hurdle, obstacle or challenge that life hands you. For me personally, I feel things could always be worse, and I choose to make the best out of every situation.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The business is called DNA Builds. The goal is to always provide exceptional customer service, lasting value and becoming a company that you can trust with all your construction and remodeling needs. We specialize in residential construction and remodeling, with a focus on custom projects that reflect each client’s vision and lifestyle. Whether it’s a ground-up build or a transformative renovation, our process is intentional, transparent, and client-centered from start to finish.

What sets us apart is our commitment to integrity and follow-through. We’re known for clear communication, high-quality craftsmanship, and delivering exactly what we promise—on time and with care. Our clients appreciate that we treat every project as if it were our own home, with attention to detail and respect for their investment.

Brand-wise, we’re most proud of the reputation we’ve built through honesty, consistency, and personalized service. The goal isn’t to be the biggest company with multiple employees; the aim is to be the most trusted. For us, it’s about doing things the right way, every time.

What is most important to us is that when you work with us, you’re not just hiring another contractor or construction company—you’re gaining a long-term partner. We’re here to guide you through every step of the process with clarity, integrity, and genuine care for the outcome.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice would be to have a clear, intentional plan written out with well-defined goals and be specific in how you want to get there. Having set processes and procedures at a micro level is essential. Surround yourself with like-minded people who aim to make you better not only in a business sense but as a person.
