Today we’d like to introduce you to Dead Dumb & Blind.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Dead, Dumb & Blind started off as a crappy two piece, only guitar and drums that only did covers in a hot stuffy bedroom. Over time, we expanded with a new lead guitarist and vocalist. Cycled through some bassists and then found a new drummer. We all had a love for 90s slop and reflected that for our first year together. Now as we’ve grown, we’re diving into a new wave of tolerable and more melodic music.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’ve definitely had our share of hiccups during our time together, I would struggle to think of a band that hasn’t. Starting out, just finding shows can be a challenge in of itself. Every one of us has been plagued with gear problems at some point, whether that be falling cymbals, snapped guitar necks, or the never-ending struggle that is having to haul a Peavey bass cab around.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We’re an alternative rock 4-piece from
Boise, Idaho. We released our debut EP, Shiver, onto streaming last March, and we’re probably the most proud of that as far as our finished products go. We’d like to think that the type of music we make is enough to set us apart, at least in our hometown. Our scene back in Boise has been dominated for quite some time by hardcore and metal, but only had a handful of really great alternative bands. It’s also been really cool to see other bands that are genre-adjacent to us start to pop up, as we’ve made our dent into the Boise scene.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
To us, we feel that what has allowed us to continue and keep our passion for what we do alive and thriving is the fact that we’re all friends. we’re together more than just for music, and we all consider each other some of if not our very best friends, and we’re there for each other more than just in writing and stage presence. Our special connection as friends is what we believe makes us who we are.
