Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivy Roots.
Hi Ivy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started performing and making music as an outlet. I studied music production and voice in college. As I developed my skills I noticed how uplifting and healing it was for people to see my journey, hear my songs, or seeing me perform at a concert for the first time. I became a muse and people could see themselves through me. It inspired me to pursue music as a career.
I come from a lineage of small business owners so it wasn’t so far fetched for me to make my own rules and pursue something I’m passionate about.
I’ve written, recorded, and produced over 500 songs, performed in almost every state in the US, inspired audiences, and sparked countless healing dialogues through my music and artistry.
Aside from the hours it takes to develop a skill and own a business, keeping sight of my why is what helped me get to where I am. Determination and talent is what gets you in the rooms, morale and authenticity is what keeps you there.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. I’ve made mistakes, endured criticism, and navigated environments that breed misogynoir.
Every challenge was an opportunity to grow, expand my capacity to love and sharpen my tool belt. I’m grateful for the character development.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a singer/songwriter, musician and producer. I am widely known for my voice. I specialize in singing songs that resonate with the heart and mind.
I am proud of owning my masters, and I think that sets me apart from a lot of artists.
