Today we’d like to introduce you to Janarius Harris
Hi Janarius , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began in Belzoni, MS, where I started cutting hair at the age of 13. After high school, I served in the U.S. Navy onboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN 71. Post-Navy, I attended Trendsetters Barber College in Jackson, MS, where I began competing in barber competitions. Relocating to Houston, TX, I quickly made a name for myself, becoming a 9x Barber Battle Champion and featuring on “Cedric’s Barber Battle.”
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
1. Hard transition from driving trucks to not having much money trying to rebuild clients in the Barber Industry.**
– Transitioning from a career in trucking to the barber industry was challenging due to financial constraints and the need to rebuild a client base from scratch.
2. Having to drive an hour to school every day was hard.**
– The daily commute of an hour to attend barber school added to the difficulty, requiring significant time and effort.
3. Opening a shop in my hometown was easy but then I realized I would never make the money I wanted to, so I had to relocate; that was hard with limited cash.**
– Although opening a barber shop in my hometown was straightforward, the realization that it wouldn’t be financially viable led to the difficult decision to relocate with limited financial resources.
4. Moving to Houston and rebuilding was definitely hard.**
– The move to Houston presented significant challenges in terms of rebuilding the business and establishing a new client base in a different city.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Barber and Educator, and I own Picture Perfect Cuts Houston, LLC as well as Cuts Global, LLC, which is located inside Walmart in Dallas, TX. I specialize in Men’s Grooming and travel the country to train other up-and-coming barbers. Known for my intricate cuts and designs, I have been featured in magazines like Barber EVO and appeared as a contestant on the CW Network’s Cedric’s Barber Battle. I’m also a 9-time Barber Battle Champion. What sets me apart is my attention to detail in every haircut, striving to make each one Picture Perfect.
