Meet Luis Ramirez of Jo.An Floral Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Ramirez

Luis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My passion for flowers started when I was very young. Since I was a boy my family had a Flower wholesale called Bella Rosa Corp. And I remember vividly my cousins and I would go to the shop and help out our parent. Whether it be cleaning buckets, chopping stems, or cleaning up.

At 15 I became interested in the design side of the business so I took off and learned Japanese floristry. I even got to travel quite a bit as an international designer and learned how to speak Japanese through this phase of my training.

After my daughter was born I felt the need to find my own identity so we moved to Texas. Where I found it difficult to get the hang of Austin’s unique style of floristry. Eventually after a lot! of practice I developed my own style. A fusion of Japanese and American Floristry.

Our company may be young but we really believe that our clientele and vendors alike can really see difference in style and technique that sets our company apart from other.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a male in this industry can sometimes feel lonely or perhaps out of place. I often felt like people look down upon my company simply because of my gender. Especially in the beginning.

But over time things have changed and I feel more welcomed in the floral community rather than being seen as a threat.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Jo.An Floral Design?
We always strive to outdo ourselves at every event. Always go above and beyond the call of duty. And believe that everyone should have access to beautiful designs.

Whether your event is big or small every client gets the same level of passion and service that we are famous for.

Although we specialize in wedding florals we do often work with corporate events and offer a line of rentals for the general public.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Before having our business, I’ve worked with different companies. And over the years, I realize that putting profit over the happiness of your clients is the biggest mistake you could ever make while growing your brand.

And so when we started our business, one of our main goal is to give back to our community by making sure that we always go above and beyond for our clients.

Only through generosity and compassion can you create an impact on the world around you. Rest assured that anything you give will come back eventually and we all need to pay our dues before seeing growth.
