Meet Pedro Castro of The Domain Northside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pedro Castro.

Pedro Castro

Hi Pedro, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Pedro. Most people know me for my brand, FRSCKO, which started as a clothing brand in 2017 and has since made a name for itself in the music industry. I hosted various events in the best music venues in Austin Tx catering to electronic music audiences. It is now a platform allowing DJs and producers worldwide to showcase their talents on FRSCKO WORLD RADIO. Available through Apple Podcast, SoundCloud, and other streaming apps. My story begins. Growing up in Cuidad Juarez, MX. I was raised by a single mother who was a victim of domestic violence. During this time, I had a lot of liberty and would hang out with my neighborhood friends, break dancing, and learn the art of graffiti. This is when I started discovering my passion for music and art at a very young age. I immigrated to Austin, TX, in 2001, where I lived with my grandparents. This marked a significant shift in my life. I was exposed to different music, culture, and fashion, not knowing these experiences would greatly influence my life. I started playing Hip-Hop in various bars in east Austin after dropping out of high school at 16. The opportunity arose through my uncle’s friend, who owned a sonido and set up gigs at different bars and events in the city. Initially, my hopes of being involved in the music industry faced a setback because of my limited English proficiency. I struggled to communicate with the crowd when I was approached. They were leading me to give up on that aspiration temporarily. In addition, my hearing is impaired in my right ear, which has been a challenge in itself. Despite these obstacles, my passion for music was cultivated. My first job was at an auto part warehouse, where I was moved to a manager position that allowed me to gain access to a desk and computer. Where I would translate tracks from some of my favorite artists at the time, like, Wu-Tang Clan, Bone Thugs, and Harmony & All the Texas Screwed and Chopped movement going on at that time in Texas, this is how I taught myself English. You could say, in my unique way. As my English improved, I started feeling more confident communicating & interacting with people. I began attending various music events, such as SXSW, Fun Fun Fest, and ACL, which became a regular part of my life starting at 17. These experiences have shaped my musical journey since I arrived in Austin, marking key milestones in my evolving connection to the music scene.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey through this path called life has been challenging. I have faced many obstacles along the way, but nothing I have been unable to overcome. I have always been a man of dreams, goals, and desires. One step at a time, I have accomplished many of them with my faith, love, hope, and, most importantly, the drive I have inside. GOD has been my guide and has led my life. He has given me the push I need to continue with my journey. I believe in myself, in my capabilities, and in what my dreams can achieve. My accomplishments have always transpired with a positive mindset, and I aim to become a better person day by day. I have had to battle myself many times, as we all can be our worst enemy. There have been challenges like sadness, anxiety, and depression. That has, at times, filled my subconscious and blurred my vision. On many occasions, I wanted to give up. But my faith, hope, and creativity have allowed me to keep going. I know soon, with the grace of GOD, I will someday be where I dream to be. I want to be in a position where I can help others and inspire the next generation. Remind people to believe in themselves and remember anything is possible with the help of our GOD.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I am the Founder, Designer, and Creative Director of FRSCKO, also known as FRSCKOWORLD. In addition to managing the brand, I am actively involved in music, event planning, and DJ bookings for personal and client-related projects. When DJing, I showcase my versatility by playing under different aliases depending on the genre, offering a diverse and tailored musical experience for various events. As a DJ, I bring my musical expertise to other settings. My design skills play a significant role in shaping the visual identity of FRSCKO and its associated projects. Currently, I am developing a new brand to assist creatives and musicians with their brand development and various creative needs. This venture has not been active, but I am excited about the upcoming launch. With my team, we have successfully introduced “FRSCKOWORLD Radio,” a podcast featuring DJ mixes from around the world released weekly or bi-weekly.

Alright, before we go, can you talk to us about how people can work, collaborate, or support you?
Thanks to the internet, I’m grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with some of my favorite creatives, both locally and globally. I am excited about future partnerships and am passionate about leveraging my talent to uplift and support creatives worldwide. Fostering a collaborative space where like-minded individuals can contribute to the flourishing of creativity, I remain open to working with others and humbly embrace the opportunity to learn from their creative insights. In each collaboration, I find inspiration and growth, and I look forward to continuing this enriching journey with diverse and talented individuals worldwide.
