Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Emerson.
Hi Peter, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got my start over 30 years ago; in 1992, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sculpture, and in 1996 my Masters’s Degree in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design. I’ve taught many workshops at universities in the US and created art for display and sale as far as London, England. I’ve expanded my skills to include watchmaking, blacksmithing, 3D design, and wood engraving in jewelry making and sculpture. In 1999 I bought and renovated the building formally known as The Old Rex Theatre in the early 1900s and Gattis Pizza from the 80s-90s located in Downtown Brenham off the courthouse square 205 E. Main St.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Participating in events, mainly in Colorado, has made the adventure eventful and fulfilling. I also have custom accounts with Bluebell Creameries and Washington on the Brazos State Park.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work is inspired by the fauna and the tree life found in the swamps and marshes of the south. I draw from the swamps and bayous of Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Florida, and Alabama.
Networking and finding a mentor can positively impact one’s life and career. Any advice?
I didn’t have a mentor. I inspired myself as part of becoming independent. I started by making money for myself through college.
