Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Guzman
Hi Richard , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hello, my is Richard Arthur Thomas Guzman. I am a military brat from Killeen, TX. I am the youngest of 3 with 2 older sisters. I am of Mexican descent on my father’s side and polish and Czech on my mother’s. I have been making music since 2015 previously under the name mistergooseman on sound cloud. I have been going by KXNG RATG since 2022. RATG is my initials and I’m named after my grandfather’s and father plus all the names have origins of kings and my last name Guzman means nobleman, man of the lord. The i in king is an X, because I was born on the 10th. My music consists of different genres, but I am an artist to the T and expresssing myself musically is my favorite form of art.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So my dad passed away when I was 16, I suffer from bipolar and substance abuse. Was homeless for a brief time period in my early 20’s going to college and working full time. I have a loving family and friends, but definitely have had to overcome a lot of obstacles. However, I hope it’s smooth sailing from this point on. God don’t give us what we can’t handle
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a singer/ songwriter/ entrepreneur/ work as a server/ bartender. Known for my music, photography, gym, basketbal. Most proud about overcoming my obstacles and not killing myself yet. What sets me apart from others is my kindness and mysteriousness. I have my layers than an onion.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
You gotta put yourself out there and network. Do open mics, create content, work work work! Gotta put the time in really & overtime it gets easier.
