Meet Shelbie Morgan of the Hustle, Budget & Glow Podcast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelbie Morgan

Hi Shelbie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m just a girl from Houston who knows how to hustle. My journey with money has always been about turning what I have into something bigger. Growing up, my family didn’t just teach me about money—they made it a way of life. I had this giant yellow Crayola piggy bank—my mom picked it out because yellow is her favorite color—and I filled it with every coin and dollar I could find. My grandparents and great-grandparents were a huge part of this too. They gave me cash in cards for holidays and even savings bonds every year. Those bonds were a lesson in patience, showing me how small, consistent actions can grow into something meaningful. By six, I had my first bank account, and the foundation was set.

As life progressed, I leveled up. I went from saving change and opening accounts to figuring out how to make my money work for me. My first credit card, learning the cash-back game, starting small with investing—it all taught me that money isn’t just about what you earn but how you use it to create the life you want.

Starting my podcast, Hustle, Budget, & Glow, came from realizing that money and mental wellness go hand in hand. It’s not just about having a budget; it’s about having the right mindset to own your finances and your future. I wanted to create a space where we could have real, relatable conversations about getting your bag and staying grounded while doing it. This podcast is for anyone ready to level up their life—financially, mentally, and everything in between.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Anyone who’s tasted success will tell you—there’s no such thing as a smooth road. I live by two mottos:

1. Walk slowly, but never backwards.

2. Success is liking who you are, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.

Life has been…life. From career changes and layoffs to moving to a new city, it’s had its twists and turns, but every challenge has been a blessing in disguise. Nothing worth having comes easy, and the real win is in how you bounce back and keep moving forward.

My theme for 2024 is “Doing Bad Better.” Life won’t always feel like a highlight reel, but even in the tough moments, there’s beauty when you have a growth mindset. Hustling and standing ten toes down is all I know. My only choices are to wake up, embrace the good, and create a beautiful life—no matter what comes my way.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m all about empowering others—whether it’s through my podcast, my vegan bakery, or just sharing my journey. I specialize in helping people build a solid relationship with money and mental wellness, because let’s face it, the two go hand-in-hand. Through my podcast, Hustle, Budget, & Glow, I focus on bringing raw, real talk about financial freedom and mental clarity. I believe everyone deserves to feel confident in their financial decisions and have a mindset that supports their growth and happiness.

I’m also known for my hustle. I’ve got a side hustle with my vegan bakery, Grub It Up, LLC, where I’m creating not just delicious food but also a community around it. What I’m most proud of is the ability to juggle both my podcast and my business while staying true to myself. My growth mindset and dedication to creating meaningful change are at the core of everything I do.

What sets me apart is my authenticity. I’m not here to preach the perfect financial blueprint—I’m here to show people that it’s okay to take things step by step. Building wealth, building a brand, building yourself—all of it takes time, grit, and grace. And that’s what I bring to the table: a blend of practical advice and heart, grounded in my own experiences and hustle.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk is a part of life, and it’s something I’ve had to get comfortable with over the years. I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m a “daredevil” when it comes to risk, but I do believe in calculated risks—taking that leap when you’ve done the work and can handle the outcome, whether it’s good or bad.

I’ve taken a few major risks, especially when it comes to career and business. Starting Hustle, Budget, & Glow was a risk in itself—putting my voice and my story out there, sharing my own financial journey, knowing there would be both praise and criticism. It’s also been risky growing my vegan bakery, Grub It Up. There’s no blueprint for every success, so every event, every sale, every risk I take with that business feels like stepping into the unknown. But the beauty is, you learn along the way.

I think of risk like this: if the worst-case scenario is a lesson, then it’s never truly a loss. Taking risks is a way to push past comfort zones and stretch for something bigger. That’s how you grow. You’ve got to trust yourself, trust the process, and know that every risk, even the ones that don’t pan out, leads you to where you’re meant to be. And that mindset—that’s the real game-changer.
