Today we’d like to introduce you to Abigail Tammen.
Hi Abigail, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Abigail, and I’m the owner of The Sticker Box, a Texas-based sticker company I started in 2017. What began as a small side project has grown into a full-time business and production sticker shop.
In the beginning, I was creating designs and outsourcing production while learning everything I could about running a business. As demand grew, I invested in professional equipment and taught myself how to print, laminate, and cut stickers in-house. Today, every sticker is produced in my studio using premium vinyl materials and professional-grade equipment.
Over the years, The Sticker Box has grown from selling individual designs online to supplying stickers for more than 200 retail locations, including gift shops, state parks, coffee shops, airports, and small businesses across Texas and beyond.
What I love most is creating products that help people celebrate the places they love, share their personalities, and promote their businesses. Being a small business owner means wearing a lot of hats, but I enjoy the challenge and the opportunity to keep learning and growing.
Outside of the studio, you’ll usually find me enjoying tacos or a good burger, sipping an iced matcha, playing cards with family, cheering at baseball games, or spending a sunny Texas day out on the lake.
I’m incredibly grateful for every customer, retailer, and supporter who has helped turn a simple sticker idea into the business it is today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Has it been smooth? Absolutely not.
I’ve spent years figuring things out through trial and error. There have been printer breakdowns, wasted material, designs that didn’t work, orders that kept me up late, and plenty of moments where I wondered what I had gotten myself into. Running a small business means you’re the designer, manufacturer, accountant, salesperson, customer service rep, and problem-solver all at the same time.
But every challenge has taught me something. Looking back, the mistakes, setbacks, and difficult seasons are what helped me build a stronger business and gave me the confidence to keep growing. I wouldn’t trade the journey, even the messy parts. Hard is good.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the owner and creator behind The Sticker Box, where I design and produce premium vinyl stickers inspired by Texas, travel, local communities, and everyday adventures. While creativity is at the heart of what I do, I’m also deeply involved in the production process. Every sticker is printed, laminated, and cut in-house using professional equipment, allowing me to maintain a high level of quality and consistency.
Over the years, my work has evolved from creating individual sticker designs to building a brand that serves both retail customers and wholesale partners. Today, The Sticker Box products can be found in gift shops, state parks, airports, coffee shops, and retailers across Texas and beyond.
What I’m most proud of is building a business that combines creativity with craftsmanship. Many people see the finished sticker, but behind each one is a process that includes design, color management, printing, finishing, packaging, and customer service. I’ve taught myself nearly every aspect of that process and continue to learn something new every day.
What sets my work apart is that every product is created with a hands-on approach. I don’t simply design artwork—I oversee the entire journey from concept to finished product. That allows me to create durable, high-quality stickers while staying connected to the creative side of the business and the customers who support it.
At the end of the day, I love creating products that help people celebrate places they love, share their personality, and support the businesses and communities that matter to them.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that it’s supposed to be hard.
What I’ve learned is that everyone is figuring it out as they go. There will always be problems to solve, mistakes to fix, and challenges to overcome.
Every time I’ve faced something difficult in my business, I’ve come out stronger, more knowledgeable, and more confident on the other side. The hard parts aren’t a sign you’re failing—they’re often a sign you’re growing.
Looking back, the challenges that felt overwhelming at the time ended up being some of my greatest teachers.
