Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Bauereis.
Hi Anna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After our youngest son was diagnosed with Asperger’s, sensory processing disorder, and ADHD, we tried to live with those labels until a friend introduced us to a brain integration program. After testing our son, the program recommended nine months of programming, which we diligently completed. The program required adjustments to his diet and daily exercises, but the hard work paid off when our pediatrician removed those labels, as our son no longer had those issues. We were fortunate enough to be able to purchase the business and spent the next four years helping hundreds of families. However, our world was shattered when our son was killed by a distracted driver while walking a friend home. Despite our grief, we continued supporting as many families as possible. We also began to support Families for Safe Streets and Vision Zero in their efforts to change traffic laws and educate the public. Nonetheless, my memory of Alexei limited my ability to help some students and parents of teenagers. Our experience helping others made us realize that many parents needed coaching as much or more than their children needed the brain integration program. Thus, after running the business for 12 years, we decided to wind it down and transition to a new business focused on supporting parents of children with learning differences who want to homeschool. We hope to share all we have learned and help parents navigate the challenges of homeschooling their children.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As someone with a social work and psychology background, starting a business in brain health integration and education presented several challenges. One of the biggest challenges was navigating the complex world of finance and operations. To overcome this, I sought every training opportunity to learn more about running a healthy organization. Additionally, I sought guidance from mentors and peers with experience in these areas, which helped me develop the skills and knowledge needed to run my business successfully. Another challenge in our work is addressing the unique needs of each individual we serve. Every human being is different, requiring a highly individualized approach to care. While this can be challenging, we have found that it is also gratifying, as it allows us to create customized solutions that address the root causes of an individual’s challenges and empower them to reach their full potential. To overcome this challenge, we work closely with other professionals, such as physicians, therapists, and educators, to develop comprehensive plans considering all aspects of an individual’s life. This collaborative approach helps us ensure that we provide the highest quality care possible to every person we serve.
We are Eric (high IQ) and Anna (high EQ). We’ve worked with hundreds of families and explored diverse ways to educate children. It all begins with a good foundation. The most essential element is parents with a clear shared goal. We can help them get clarity and define their goals. We have helped over 1500 families with neurodivergent children overcome their challenges. We homeschooled our youngest children, and Anna set up over 80 homeschool communities in Texas. We want to help families successfully homeschool their child(ren) regardless of their learning differences (with or without a label). Our challenges, courses, mentorship, and community will provide essential elements to empower parents to educate their children and preserve their family values. Every aspect of our offerings has been well thought out, worked through with numerous families, and we have carefully designed their components to make creating and joyfully homeschooling your children with learning differences easier.
In the future, we see more and more parents taking over their children’s education. Whether concerned about what their children are exposed to, lack of focus on their children’s needs, or philosophical differences with the public educational system, more parents view homeschooling as a viable option. The view that homeschooling was in some way only for an extremely limited audience or those with special needs or skills is changing. We see the need for guidance and support for those homeschooling parents increasing. Those that have children with unique needs or particular challenges will need more than the typical support most homeschool parents will need. With extensive experience in both homeschooling and working with neurodivergent children, we know that we can help this growing population of homeschooled parents.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love empowering people. In many ways, people have been led to believe they can pay for a quick fix. When you see a family have a positive life change, it is like a plot twist in a fairy tale. The joy and gratification a family has is priceless. It’s their hard work, their accomplishment, and their knowledge that got them there. I love to be a part of that. I try to lead people to those results.
