Rising Stars: Meet Ashley Schmick Moody

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Schmick Moody. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Ashley got married in 2014 after planning her entire wedding by herself; and then she never stopped planning weddings since. They now have a team of over ten coordinators who contribute to the success of Ashley Nicole Affair. They plan about 75 weddings a year. After Ashley’s planning business took off, her husband started his wedding photography business. Not only do they work together in Texas, but they love to work weddings all over the world.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting your own business is never a smooth road. Sometimes it took getting really mad at corporate America to realize that owning my own business is something that I need. We welcomed our son Luca in 2016 and that was enough to make me take the plunge to self-employment. Not only are there the struggles of actually starting your own business, but also owning an event-based company during COVID. There were a lot of ups and downs along the way, and nobody likes interviewing CPA after CPA to find someone you trust, but we are happy to say that are smooth sailing and thriving.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a wedding planner; I specialize in partial and full-service weddings, but I also take the time to have all of the consultations myself and work upfront with my clients. I dedicate myself to the wedding planning industry full time, so allowing every bride to have unlimited communication with me has always been a plus. I want our couples to feel like we are a resource, I want them to have a constant support team behind them, and I don’t want any face at the altar to be a stranger. By the time wedding day rolls around, I’ve already become best friends with all of your family and friends. It is so nice to see us physically take the burden and stresses of planning a wedding off of our couple’s family and friends. It’s a true gift to watch them being able to celebrate and focus on the couple’s new beginning together.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I will speak to wedding trends because those are always changing. Last year seemed very Bohemian and this year seems to be full of bright and playful colors! Last year they were small and this year they are big. The great thing about weddings is that there should not be any anticipated shifts in the future; we think we survived the worst, right? It is a GIANT industry with a lot of amazing vendors and professionals to network with. It’s easy to make friends with your “competitors” because at the end of the day, love is love and there are enough weddings to go around for ALL of us… especially since we live in the beautiful Hill Country!
