Rising Stars: Meet Danielle Fahrenkrug

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Fahrenkrug.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always been into healthy eating and started blogging about healthy recipes I was developing in my kitchen to share with friends and family. I was a new mom and wanted to make traditional recipes healthy for the whole family. Back when I first started my blog in 2012 I was all over the place and also incorporated crafts, organizing tips, and home decor ideas – just sharing all the things I love.

But my healthy living journey started years before that after a health scare of my own. All through high school and college I had hormone problems that were affecting other areas of my life including Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). I was told having children would be difficult and I would have to go through InVitro Fertilization (IVF) methods. I learned everything I could about food and how they work with the body so I could heal myself.

I detoxed from all preservatives, fake sugars, decreased my gluten intake which left me truly feeling the best I have ever felt in my life! Since that transition in diet, I have never counted calories, and my body found balance again. I wanted to share the combination of healthy living with easy healthy family recipes so others can find success in their health journey while still eating delicious family-friendly foods.

Through my blog and cookbooks, it has become my ultimate mission to enhance the lives of those I touch through healthy gluten-free recipes and wellness.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is never as easy as it looks. But with perseverance and your mind ONLY on the end goal – you can achieve anything.

In 2012, I started writing about crafts, food, and home decor to share that a healthy balanced life incorporates all of those things. But I realized f I was going to make my blog a full-time career, I needed to narrow that down to one niche which became the love of food. In 2015 Delightful Mom Food domain was purchased and it took off slowly. I fired myself about 20 times but somehow kept my eye on that end vision of what I saw would come of my blog. I got hit with a few Google algorithm updates where I lost half my traffic (and income overnight). Each time I picked myself back up and sought the help I needed to correct those technical issues that were causing the problem. You see blogging is not just blogging – you have to wear all the hats of figuring out the technical side with the creative side. In the beginning, I had images that were way too large, I was writing urls incorrectly and not using proper plugins to help. I didn’t know any better at the time. With research and joining food blogging groups, I found the proper help that I needed and now hire people to help manage when things come up. So I can focus on the creative side of developing recipes, photography, writing, and educating readers.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Hi! I’m Danielle – a healthy living and gluten-free food blogger at the popular blog Delightful Mom Food. I develop traditional recipes and transform them into healthier versions because eating healthy should be delicious and mean you can still enjoy your favorite foods! You’ll find tons of vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and foods free of processed sugars on my blog. I am a food photographer, writer, 3x cookbook author, and certified health and nutrition life coach.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Good luck and bad luck are a mindset games. It can make you stronger when you are able to choose to look at it through a clear lens. Luck means this to me – “When hard work meets opportunity, and you are ready.”

Luck is around us constantly but you just have to see it and sometimes literally scream it out loud to the universe and for God to hear. Put that good energy into the world. I have had my share of bad luck, discouragement, and frustration. Which in my life (and what I teach my kids) and in business, I tell myself that this is temporary and it must mean something amazing is happening. In my business, it sometimes pushes me to work harder. Then the “luck” happens because you took the steps to be open to them.
