Today we’d like to introduce you to Dionne Williams.
Dionne, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I decided to quit my job in the healthcare field back in 2012, and took a leap of faith. I spent a week in Houston, Texas and attended Franklin Beauty College where I got my natural hair license.
I Came back to Austin and started immediately working in a Salon, where I started out Braiding and doing Locs.
I worked in this Salon on and off for a few years and decided to go for a Mini Salon. I worked in my Mini Salon for another 3 years and I decided to open my own Salon. So as of today I have my on Salon Loc’d By Dee in Roundrock, Tx.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building your clientele was the most difficult part of the journey. I did what I needed to do. Passing my card out every where I went, making door hangers and putting them on neighbor hood doors, ads on Social Media whatever I needed to do.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Master Loc Stylist. I start, repair & maintain Locs. This is my specialty, I love my job & my clients. I’m known for my growing hands…when people sit in my chair and i’m carrying for their hair it grows. This is because I put TLC into my work and this is what sets me apart from other stylists. It’s not always about the money. I love my job.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Riding in the car with my grandparents and looking at new cars & houses.
