Rising Stars: Meet Hillary Deck

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hillary Deck. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Hillary has been in real estate for more than a decade, serving both Austin and the Chicago market. “I have the advantage of starting my real estate career in the much larger and challenging market of Chicago. Through that, and my previous experience as a mortgage consultant in Los Angeles, I have become a seasoned negotiator who thinks outside the box and develops personalized strategies for my clients to achieve their goals,” Hillary says.

Six years ago, Hillary moved her family across the country to be closer to family. She knows the intricacies and challenges that come with making the move to Austin and can help guide families in similar situations. As a Texas native and third-generation Austinite, she continues the family tradition of making an impact on her community.

As an “in the know” agent, Hillary has a pulse on the ever-changing Austin market. She listens to her clients’ goals and develops trust using an honest approach, always putting the client first. When working with her, either as a buyer or seller, you can count on her to represent your interests and provide expertise throughout the process. “Problem-solving is at the root of real estate & navigating through issues as they arise is my specialty,” she says.

A Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE), Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS), graduate of the Realtor Institute (GRI), and member of the Austin Luxury Network, Top Agent Network and the National, Texas and Austin Board of Realtors, Hillary has done hundreds of real estate transactions. She is ingrained in the community and has valuable knowledge of off-market properties.

In 2013 and more recently in 2020, she was chosen to be featured on HGTV’s show “House Hunters.” She is also the Real Estate Resource expert for Tarrytown Living Magazine. She serves on the Elizabeth Ann Seton Board, is a leader in the Junior League of Austin, serves on the Saint Louise House Gala Committee and volunteers at her daughters’ school, Casis Elementary.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of my biggest challenges was when we decided to move to Austin, Texas. I had started as a realtor with @properties in 2010 in Chicago and had to start my career completely over again from scratch. I had the tools, the expertise of working in a huge market and using different strategies than Texas agents, but didn’t have a network here. Through networking, hard work and patience, I was able to build a great network of friends, clients and other top agents. This allows me to be the first in the door to see homes off and on market for buyers and be the in-the-know agent for all of my clients.

We’ve been in Austin for six years now, and we are raising two daughters, have built a house in Tarrytown, and we are ingrained in our community. I truly believe that Austin is the best place to live, raise kids and enjoy everything the town has to offer.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Global Real Estate Advisor for Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty. I have a team comprised of Austyn Scott and Claire Money. Together we help individuals buy, sell and invest in real estate. We work all through Central Austin and the suburbs. I have been a realtor since 2010 and thoroughly enjoy problem-solving for clients and helping them meet their real estate needs.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
My father and uncle owned Dunn Development, a company the renovated and preserved historical homes in Dallas, Texas. My father was also a mortgage banker for over forty years. We lived in several homes, many of them historical in the Swiss Avenue Historic District. Homes have always been important to me – I like home projects, renovations and making memories with family and friends in our homes.
