Today we’d like to introduce you to Karshif Adams.
Hi Karshif, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My cousin Lamont actually got me started. He had a line that he shared with a friend. I was a big fan of what their brand stood for and the logo it displayed. He persuaded me to start my own because of my love for fashion. It did take some time but he was pretty convincing. He saw something in me that I didn’t quite see in myself at that moment.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road and I’m ok with that. With anything great comes moments where struggle is experienced. In business struggles come in various shapes sizes and purpose’s. There are plenty of lessons to be learned. One of the main issues is self doubt or the fear of failing thats a big one in which I struggled with in the very beginning. I had a friend who was killed who helped me with it. He was a very big supporter of mine up until his death. His conversations and voice echo in my head like a song on repeat and I’m forever grateful for that.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a fashion designer I’ve been published in various publications around the world. Vogue being the top one and I’ve been featured in 3 separate issues. I would have to say that being alive and well is one of my greatest accomplishments. I’m also very proud that people in other countries know of me for something positive. This career brings tons of opportunities that I’m also very grateful for one being this interview. Just knowing someone thought enough of me to wanna learn more about me and my journey is inspiring within itself. I pull my creativity from my life experiences and situations or encounters with others. Sometimes it could be the simplest thing that jogs my memory in some cases as well.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I only want people to support me if they understand where I’m coming from. Or we have a shared experience that connects us. I don’t like forced creativity. My site is open 24/7 at Numbatheart.com. Collaborations that have to make sense I just don’t want to do collaborations for just anything. My email is always open I’m a pretty hands on designer and I reply to my own emails at the moment. So everything will be took into consideration as long as it makes sense. I’m pretty down to earth and very relaxed.
